2010 Census: Let's Be Counted!

RSS Feed

Earlier this week, you likely received the 2010 Census questionnaire in the mail. Please take a few minutes to fill out this important form and immediately mail it back in the envelope that was provided

The Census is important for a number of reasons.  First, the federal government awards over $400 billion annually to state and local governments based on data that it receives from the Census.  Information from the Census will determine which neighborhoods receive new schools, health clinics, senior citizen centers, bus lines, and other social services.  Getting New York's fair share depends on your participation.

Additionally, the census determines representation in the U.S. House of Representatives and the boundaries for districts at all levels of government.  Fair and accurate representation of our community on the local, state and federal level is vital to our community’s well-being.

Filling out the Census form is a safe, free and easy way to fight for the services our community deserves. It’s up to each of us to make sure we are counted.
