SENATOR LANZA'S ANNUAL SENIOR INFORMATION DAY

Senator Andrew Lanza invites senior citizens to join him at CYO Mt. Loretto on Staten Island this Friday at his annual Senior Information Day. The fair is a one-stop opportunity for senior citizens to receive a variety of informational materials and demonstrations from government agencies, health care organizations, and other important groups. Health screenings, flu shots and mammography screenings will be available, as well as free refreshments and giveaways (appointment necessary for mammography screenings 800-564-6868).

Sen. Lanza has championed a number of initiatives to improve the quality of life for senior citizens on Staten Island. He led the effort in the Senate to restore Title XX funding in this year’s State Budget to keep Staten Island’s Friendship Clubs open; he authored legislation to give seniors discounts on tolls and water bills; he supported EPIC to lower the cost of prescription drugs; and he authored a new law which requires health insurance plans to cover oral chemotherapy treatments, allowing for more patient choices in treating illnesses (Chapter 559 of the laws of 2011).
