Press Conference: Senate Co-Leader Jeff Klein, IDC, and TV Star Padma Lakshmi Kick-off Teen Health Awareness Campaign in Albany

What: Today at the Capitol, Senate Majority Coalition Leader Jeffrey D. Klein, members of the Senate’s Independent Democratic Conference, and Host of the Emmy Award winning show Top Chef and co-founder of the Endometriosis Foundation of America Padma Lakshmi will kick-off a teen health awareness campaign. At the press conference, the IDC will launch a new, online survey encouraging New York teens to “weigh-in” on what they know about important health issues facing young people today. As part of the effort, Senator Klein and the IDC will also announce the creation of a Healthy Teen Awareness and Education Fund. The ensuing campaign and education fund will focus on three major health issues facing young people in New York: obesity (and its associated health risks), Endometriosis, and the health risks associated with alcohol and substance abuse.
