NYC WATER BOARD SCHEDULES SIX PUBLIC HEARINGS

ON PROPOSED FISCAL YEAR 2011 WATER RATE

The New York City Water Board today announced the public hearing schedule for the upcoming FY 2011 water rate proposal. A total of six public hearings have been scheduled: one evening hearing in each of the five boroughs and an additional afternoon hearing to take place in Manhattan. The proposed FY2011 water rate will be presented to the Water Board on April 9, 2010 by the Department of Environmental Protection, which is responsible for proposing a water rate that meets the financial obligations in connection with providing water and wastewater services to more than nine million New Yorkers. Following the six public hearings, the Water Board will formally adopt the FY 2011 water rate on May 21, and the new rate will become effective on July 1, 2010.

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE HEARING DATE FOR BROOKLYN HAS BEEN CHANGED FROM THURSDAY, MAY 13TH TO TUESDAY, MAY 18TH.
