SENATOR SALAND’S SEX OFFENSE TRAINING BILL IS SIGNED INTO LAW

Senator Steve Saland (R, I, C - Poughkeepsie) today announced that his legislation to establish policies and procedures for the investigation of sex offenses by police officers, and provide training to judges and justices on crimes involving sexual assault, (S.4895) has been signed into law by Governor Andrew Cuomo.

SENATOR SALAND’S LEGISLATION TO KEEP GUNS OUT OF THE HANDS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE OFFENDERS IS SIGNED BY THE GOVERNOR

New law will bar people convicted of domestic violence misdemeanors from purchasing firearms

Senator Steve Saland (R, I, C - Poughkeepsie) today announced that Governor Cuomo has signed his legislation to protect victims of domestic violence by ensuring that pertinent information regarding certain violent misdemeanor crimes is considered, as required by federal law, when determining whether a person is qualified to purchase a firearm (S.4244C).

SENATE GIVES FINAL LEGISLATIVE PASSAGE TO JUVENILE “SEXTING” AND “CYBERBULLYING” PREVENTION BILL

               The New York State Senate today gave final legislative passage to a bill (S.5253B) to divert youth to an education program addressing the sending of nude or obscene photographs through electronic technologies, also known as “sexting,” as well as conduct that constitutes “cyberbullying.”
