State Senate Passes Brownfield Cleanup Program Extension

The New York State Senate passed legislation today that was sponsored by Senator Mark Grisanti (R-I, Buffalo) that extends a program to clean up potentially contaminated sites and put them back to productive use.

Grisanti's Bill Establishes Green Development Home Tax Exemption For Erie County

New York State Senator Mark Grisanti (R, I-60) today announced the passage of a bill that establishes a green development home tax exemption for local property owners, making an amendment of the state's real property tax law for property located within Erie County.


The legislation is expected to facilitating growth in the green home market by offering an incentive for homes that typically cost more than the average new home.

Land Conservancy Awarded $49,700 from Conservation Partnership Program Grants

On Thursday, April 24, Governor Cuomo announced $1.4 million
in Conservation Partnership Program grants for 50 nonprofit land trusts across
the state. Representatives of the Department of Environmental Conservation
(DEC) and the Land Trust Alliance unveiled the grantees at an event at Indian
Ladder Farms in Albany County as part of a weeklong celebration of Earth Day.
The grants, funded through the Environmental Protection Fund (EPF), will be
matched by nearly $1.1 million in private and local funding and will support
projects to enhance public access and recreational opportunities, protect
farmland, and conserve open space.

Innovative Partnership Model Moves Scajaquada Creek Restoration Forward in Forest Lawn

Supported by a $100,000 grant from the New York Economic Development Capital Program, secured by NYS Senator Mark Grisanti, the first step in the efforts to restore Scajaquada Creek has been completed, with the release today of a detailed report on creek habitat and water quality in the 2 ½ mile portion of Scajaquada Creek that daylights and meanders through Forest Lawn.The report is the result of a two-year collaboration between the Forest Lawn Heritage Foundation, Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Senator Grisanti Statement Regarding Extended Air Quality Monitoring Around The Peace Bridge

"After receiving calls from the community and having conversations with Commissioner Joe Martens from the Department of Environmental Conservation regarding the air quality in the neighborhood near the Peace Bridge, I am happy to see that the DEC has agreed to my request to extend the air quality monitoring process and add more air monitoring sites during the upcoming high-traffic summer months.

Grisanti Delivers For Orchard Park: Secures $200,000 For Green Lake Dam Reconstruction

New York State Senator Mark Grisanti, who serves as Chairman of the Senate's Environmental Conservation Committee, announced today that after working with town officials in Orchard Park he has been able to secure $200,000 to help replace Green Lake Dam.


Green Lake Dam was recently reclassified by the state Department of Environmental Conservation from an intermediate hazard to a high hazard, which drew concerns from many residents and community stakeholders in Orchard Park.

Senator Grisanti, Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy Turn On New Fountain At Hoyt Lake

The Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy and Senator Mark Grisanti, Chairman of the Environmental Conservation Committee, celebrate significant steps toward improving water quality in Delaware Park. The Buffalo Olmsted Park Conservancy announces the installation of an impressive new fountain in Hoyt Lake in Delaware Park.  This is a re-creation of the historic fountain installed in 1895, when the lake was known as "The Gala Waters". The new fountain will not only add to the beauty of the park space, but will also help address community concerns regarding the water conditions in Delaware Park's historic lake.
