Senator Maziarz meets with Thurman Thomas and others to discuss solar energy

Senator George Maziarz, Chairman of the Senate Energy and Telecommunications Committee, met this morning in his district office with Thurman Thomas, John Mariacher, and Stephen Lynch about some exciting solar energy projects in the works.  The Buffalo Bills Hall of Fame running back has a real interest in helping people lower their bills and promoting renewable resources.  We look forward to good things to come and great partnerships!

Joint statement from Senator Maziarz and IBEW Local 97 President Ted Skerpon on transmission system upgrades

Starting with the New York State Transmission and Reliability Study (STARS) that identified significant bottlenecks in our transmission infrastructure back in 2010, policymakers and the public alike have become very aware of the significant and persistent problems that an aging and inefficient transmission system has created.  Make no mistake—these negative consequences affect each and every New Yorker.

Power line upgrades must move forward, Senator Maziarz says

People use electricity in their homes and businesses every day and, since electrical power has been available to most of us for our entire lives, we also tend to take it for granted. Most people only think about the energy that powers their home once a month when they pay their utility bills, and in that case their typical question is, “why is my bill so high?”

Yes, Governor Cuomo, let's end the 18-a utility tax ASAP

Maziarz bill to audit relicensing beneficiaries becomes law

Governor Cuomo has signed into law Senate Bill 4948A, which directs the New York Power Authority to conduct audits of entities that receive power allocations or monetary payments associated with the federal relicensing agreement.  All beneficiaries of power or money associate with these agreements are required to fully cooperate and once the audit is complete, NYPA is then required to report their finding to the Governor and Legislature.
