Senator Martins Attends Telugu Literary and Cultural Association Picnic

Senator Jack M. Martins recently attended the Telugu Literary and Cultural Association (TLCA) Picnic, where he discussed issues with members of this prestigious Indian associations. It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon at Christopher Morley Park. Senator Martins was honored to have spent time with the esteemed members of TLCA of New York, one of the earliest Indian Associations in North America and the first Telugu association. The TLCA was formed with the primary goal of promoting the Telugu Literary and Cultural Activities in the tristate area. Successive generations of Telugu children and adults have benefited from its tremendous success towards this goal, as can be seen by the vitality of its programs even 35 years later.

Project Independence, sponsored by the Town of North Hemsptead Department of Services For the Aging, assists seniors. Senator Martins has close connections to the senior community and also has made his office available for anyone seeking assistance in state issues.

Senator Martins Supports Shoes For All

Williston Park Doctor Starts Non-Profit to Collect and Distribute Footwear

Senator Jack M. Martins recently congratulated Dr. Mary Carlson for her work for Shoes For All, a non-profit organization Dr. Carlson founded to collect and distribute shoes to those less fortunate and in desperate need of footwear.

Dr. Carlson, podiatrist with an office located in Williston Park, ran her first shoe drive at a local street fair in September 2010. The tremendous community support encouraged her to continue her outreach service. The result was Shoes For All, which is making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate by providing shoes, which will ultimately prevent foot health problems.

Senator Martins Attends Manhasset Chamber of Commerce Legislative Breakfast

Senator Jack M. Martins recently attended the Manhasset Chamber of Commerce Legislative Breakfast, where he gave an update on accomplishments in Albany. He reiterated the important of having a vibrant business community and the need to ease the tax burden on businesses as well as residents in order to get the economy on the right track. Senator Martins has worked with the Governor to provide tax relief and make the state more business friendly in order to create jobs. He thanked the Manhasset Chamber of Commerce for the invite and enjoyed spending the morning with the esteemed members.

Senator Martins Visits Herricks Senior Community Center

Senator Jack M. Martins recently spent a morning with the seniors at the Herricks Community Center. Senator Martins brough dessert and discussed issues with the seniors. Her cherishes the time he gets to spend with the senior community. "Our seniors have so much to teach us. They lived through difficult times our country faced and they persevered," he said.

Whether it's by visiting seniors centers or Funday Monday at Bar Beach during the summer, Senator Martins stays in close contact with the senior community, which, in the Seventh Senate District, is extremely vibrant.

Senator Martins Holds Mobile Office Hours in the Port Washington Library

In an effort to give constituents access to his office, Senator Jack M. Martins is holding mobile office hours throughout the 7th Senate District. Recently, he held mobile office hours in the Port Washington Library, where he met with residents and listened to their questions and concerns. Senator Martins feels it's important to frequently meet with residents to listen to their concerns as it is essential to his job representing the people of the 7th Senate District. The Senate thanks the Port Washington Library for allowing him the use of the library. Senator Martins' District Office is always available to residents at (516) 746-5924.

Numerous businesses lined Jericho Turnpike as residents and community leaders enjoyed all Williston Park has to offer. Senator Martins attended the fair and met with numerous residents and leaders of the Williston Park community.
