Fourth and Final Rules Reform Hearing in Long Island

The Rules Reform Committee held its fourth and final public hearing in Long Island, opening up a conversation with New Yorkers about reform at the Senate. The hearing was the last in a series held across the state. Findings from the hearing will be used as the Rules Reform Committee compiles its recommendations about how the Senate should move forward on this key issue.

Senate Rules Reform Committee Launches YouTube Channel

The State Senate Temporary Committee on Rules and Administration Reform has created a YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/NYSenateRulesReform) as an additional, transparent means of soliciting public feedback on the legislative process. The channel allows individuals to record and share input on Senate procedure as the Temporary Committee concludes their public hearing phase over the next 10 days. Responses will be considered in the Committee’s final  recommendations, which will be presented to the full Senate by April 13th.

Third Rules Reform Hearing in New York City

The Rules Reform Committee held its third public hearing in New York City, opening up a conversation with New Yorkers about reform at the Senate. Final State Hearings on Rules Reform To Be Held In NYC And Long Island

The bi-partisan State Senate Temporary Committee on Rules and Administration Reform, co-Chaired by Senators David Valesky (D-Oneida) and John Bonacic (R-Mt. Hope), will hold its final two public hearings this week in New York City and Long Island. The hearings will be broadcast live via the Web (www.senate.state.ny.us) and among those scheduled to testify in New York City include former state senators, as well as representatives of organizations such as the Brennan Center for Justice, New York City Bar Association and the Sunlight Foundation.

Rules Reform Committee Holds 2nd Hearing In Albany

Today the bi-partisan Senate Rules and Administration Reform Committee held the second of four public hearings, at which they heard testimony from reform advocates and citizens for how the State Senate can improve the legislative process and become a transparent and accountable body. These hearings are key to the new Majority’s effort to open up the legislative process, and increase public awareness and input.
