Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) announced that he is teaming up with Island Harvest this holiday season to sponsor a food drive for families in need.

“Far too many Long Island families don’t know where their next meal is going to come from. Through this food drive, we can lend a hand to families that have fallen on hard times. I invite all residents to join us in helping our neighbors in need,” said Senator Fuschillo.

Residents and community groups are welcome to participate in the food drive by donating canned goods and other non-perishable food items. All food collected through the program will be donated to Island Harvest, which distributes over 8 million pounds of food to non-profit organizations across Long Island. Over 283,000 Long Islanders are affected by hunger each year, according to Island Harvest.
