(Jamaica, NY) The William Wordsworth School-P.S. /I.S. #48 moved into a new building last month. The five story structure boasts a state of the art auditorium, library, science resource room, art studio, science labs, gymnasium and a fully equipped cafeteria/kitchen. Presently, the building services grades Pre-K-5 and is inclusive of District 75.

We are proud to announce a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the opening of this new school on Friday, October 14th at 8:30 a.m. This event has been in the making for quite some time as Senator Huntley played an instrumental role in securing a location for the school. Since being elected in 2006 she has continued to lead an effort to reduce overcrowding within schools in her district and was part of the groundbreaking ceremony for P.S. /I.S. #48 in 2008 which came as a result of 368 blocks rezoned for downtown Jamaica.

In addition we are proud to welcome local community leaders, school administrators, clergy, PS #48 alumni, parents and students who will be in attendance to mark this auspicious occasion. The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be followed by light refreshments and guided tours of this brand new learning community.
