Senator Phil Boyle will host a discussion to spread awareness about Cyber Law and the dangers of “sexting.” The event will feature Suffolk County Police Officer George Lynagh from the Community Response Bureau, who regularly presents to students on a variety of issues affecting students throughout Suffolk County schools.
“Community and school outreach is crucial to protecting our children from issues like cyber-bullying and sexting,” said Senator Boyle. “I am grateful for this opportunity to partner with Officer George Lynagh in our shared effort to spread awareness about Cyber Law and the threats our children face today.”
Through PowerPoint, videos, and lecture, Officer Lynagh will inform parents of the current social cyber trends, the current laws regarding cyber bullying and sexting, and discuss the social impact upon our schools and our children. The discussion will take place at the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library (1 South Country Road, Bay Shore, NY 11706) on Thursday March 28th from 6PM to 8PM.
“As technology improves, the ability to monitor our children’s activities can become more challenging,” said Senator Boyle. “Events like this can play an important role in providing our parents, educators, and community leaders with the tools they need to keep our students safe.”
