Kennedy invites WNY veterans to join him November 19 for event aimed at connecting Vets to the services they’ve earned.
Kennedy: America’s veterans fought bravely to keep our nation strong. We must ensure they have access to support and services they’ve earned. They’ve served us, now it’s our turn to serve them.
CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. – Senator Tim Kennedy, D-Buffalo, announced an event that he’s holding to help connect veterans to the services and support they earned while serving our great nation. Senator Kennedy’s Veterans Forum and Services Fair will be Tuesday, November 19 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Villa Maria College’s Athletic Center, 240 Pine Ridge Heritage Blvd., Buffalo, NY 14225.
Senator Kennedy invites veterans from throughout Western New York to attend the event. Veterans will have the opportunity to meet with various service providers and connect with several available resources on site.
“Western New York’s veterans worked hard and fought bravely to keep our nation and our state strong,” said Senator Kennedy. “We must ensure they are able to fully access the support and services they earned and deserve. They’ve served us; now it’s our turn to serve them.
“This week, we celebrated Veterans Day, but we should take time every day to commemorate the service and sacrifices of America’s veterans,” Kennedy added. “Our Veterans Forum and Services Fair will be a one-stop information and services center where veterans can learn more about federal resources and state services, employment opportunities, how to start a business or get their career started and much more. It will also be an opportunity to share input and feedback to help ensure government is doing its best to serve all veterans.”
Over 20 agencies and organizations will participate in the event. Confirmed participants include Western New York Veterans Housing Coalition, Veterans One-Stop Center of WNY, Erie County Veterans Services, SPCA Paws & Patriots, Headway of NY, NYS Division of Veterans Affairs, CASH Coalition, Statler Center-Olmsted Center for Sight, Erie County Mental Health Association, Local Colleges’ Veterans Affairs Offices, and many more.
In addition, expert speakers will share experiences of post-service life and discuss challenges facing our returning veterans. Senator Kennedy will also outline legislative initiatives on veterans issues.
“I hope veterans from throughout Western New York will join us for our Veterans Forum and Services Fair,” Kennedy said. “This is an exciting opportunity to hear directly from local veterans about the issues and challenges they’ve experienced, and help connect them with any resources they may need. We expect the event to be very beneficial for veterans who may have questions or need help with various agencies or service providers.”
Senator Kennedy’s Veterans Forum and Services Fair is a free event open to all local veterans. Light breakfast will be available, compliments of Senator Kennedy, at no cost to taxpayers.
