Legal Assistance for Those Affected by Superstorm Sandy

In the wake of Superstorm Sandy,  the New York State Bar Association has been working with local bar associations throughout the affected area to coordinate relief efforts. Forum/Town Hall: Senator Co-Hosting Foreclosure Prevention Event

Senator Stewart-Cousins is co-hosting a Foreclosure Prevention Event in partnership with the Department of Financial Services and State Senator Suzi Oppenheimer. If you or someone you know is having trouble with mortgage payments, this event will offer free consultations with foreclosure prevention experts from the Department of Financial Service's Foreclosure Relief Unit. These experts have been traveling the State informing homeowners of their options to prevent foreclosure.

The event is happening on August 3rd, from 11AM - 7PM outside of 110 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd White Plains, NY.

On Thursday, July 12th, I had the privilege to speak at, and take part in, the ribbon cutting ceremony for Paul Wolk Commons. The mixed-use community facility combines affordable housing units with a mental health treatment apartment program. Paul Wolk Commons are located at 435 State Street.

Westchester County homeowners will have the opportunity to meet with mortgage foreclosure specialists from the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) on August 3rd  in White Plains. The Department’s Mobile Command Center will be available to assist homeowners already in foreclosure or at risk of foreclosure from 11 AM to 7 PM, and will be located at the intersection of Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Martine Avenue, in front of the Westchester County Clerk's Office.

Foreclosure Prevention Assistance Available to Homeowners at Department of Financial Services' Mobile Command Center During Family Health & Resource Day in Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Plaza, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, July 14, 2012.

The Department of Financial Services, in partnership with Neighborhood Housing Services of Bedford-Stuyvesant, is reaching out to offer help to Bedford-Stuyvesant area homeowners in Brooklyn struggling to save their homes from foreclosure.

Senator DeFrancisco Celebrates with New Northside Homeowner

Senator John A. DeFrancisco is pictured with Brandiss Pearson in front of Pearson's new home at 513 Hickory Street in Syracuse, on June 7, 2012.  Ms. Pearson was able to buy the home through Home HeadQuarter's First Mortgage Guarantee Program for Syracuse home buyers.  Home HeadQuarters held a First Mortgage Guarantee kick off celebration on June 7th.
