Senator Will Utilize Panel of 24 Local Agriculture Professionals to Help Direct Agriculture Policy

Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R,C,I – 59th District) announced the formation of his Agriculture Advisory Board today, comprised of 24 local residents from across the four counties that makeup the 59th State Senate District.

Golden Blasts Legislation That Hurts Small Business Owners and Unfairly Rewards Street Vendors

Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn), a former small business owner, merchant leader and member of the New York City Council, today is emphatically criticizing legislation being considered today by the New York City Council Consumer Affairs Committee that unfairly rewards street vendors.

The NYC Council Committee on Consumer Affairs will consider two bills, Int. 434-2010 and Int. 435-2010, legislation that reduces the maximum fine amount on violations, and legislation that would make increased violation amounts only applicable when a the same class of violation is repeatedly committed.

State Senator David J. Valesky (D-Oneida) has introduced legislation (S.6965) building upon “Buy Local” movements to increase awareness of restaurants that sell New York-grown products, thereby helping to strengthen the state’s important agricultural industry. 

Senator Valesky, along with his colleagues in the Independent Democratic Conference (IDC) will release a report and two pieces of legislation at a press conference at 2 p.m. today in Albany.
