Senator Adams Brings Cheer to Children at Play Kids Store

Our Toy Drive was a great success! Toys were given to children at Kings County Hospital and additional toys were donated to their Pediatrics ICU.  Furthermore, Senator Adams, along with District Leaders Olanike Alabi,  Jesse Hamilton, Shirley Patterson and Robert Cornegy, hosted a Christmas Toy Giveaway at Play Kids, a new toy store located in the 20th Senatorial District in Brooklyn.  Children ages of 2 thru 10 years happily received a gift for the holiday season.

Bronx,NY- El Senador Rev. Rubén Díaz junto al Presidente del Condado del Bronx, Rubén Díaz Jr., el Asambleísta Marcos Crespo, La Organización de Ministros Hispanos de New York y otros oficiales electos se reunirán el Sabado 7 de enero para celebrar la visita de los Tres Reyes Magos con los niños de la comunidad.

Los primeros 500 niños entre las edades de uno (1) a nueve (9) años de edad recibirán regalos completamente gratis. Habrán juguetes y mochilas con materiales escolares para los niños que regresan a las escuelas. “Tambien habrá música y entretenimiento en vivo para los niños,” comentó el Senador Díaz

Karaoke Toy Drive Collects Toys for Children in Kings County Hospital

Senator Adams, in partnership with District Leaders Jesse Hamilton, Shirley Patterson, Robert Cornegy, Olanike Alabi and Walter Mosley, hosted a Karaoke Toy Drive at 2 Steps Down.  The event was a great success – guests donated many toys that were given to children at Kings County Hospital and donated to the Pediatrics ICU, and a fun evening was had by all.

Senator Adams Joins Cyberbullying Initiative in NYC Charter Schools

New York City Charter School Center, through a partnership with Senator Klein, Assemblyman Scarborough, Senator Adams and Kaitlin Monte, Miss New York 2011, administered a survey, “Click, Comment and Create Change,” to 3rd- and 4th-graders at the New Beginnings Charter School in Bedford-Stuyvesant.  The answers to the survey will be used to gather data that will help form the legislation to crack down on the problem of online bullying. Senator Adams and Senator Klein spoke to a group of 8- to 10-year-olds about the problems of excessive online chatter and the role they can play as young leaders in advising their peers about proper cyber etiquette.

DeFrancisco visited with organizers, volunteers and recipients of the 2011 Christmas Bureau Distribution on Thursday, December 22nd, at the OnCenter.  The Syracuse-area Salvation Army's annual Christmas Bureau Distribution provides local families in need with toys and food baskets for the holiday.

WDKX Brings Christmas Downtown

On Saturday, December 17th, Senator Robach joined WDKX 103.9 FM at the Monroe County Office Building for their annual Christmas event, "WDKX Brings Christmas Downtown". Children and families had their pictures taken with Santa Claus. Coats, mittens, and other winter articles of clothing were also given out to families. WDKX broadcasted live from 10 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

GOVERNOR CUOMO LAUNCHES STATEWIDE HOLIDAY GIVING DRIVE TO BENEFIT FAMILIES IN FLOOD AFFECTED COMMUNITIES

Encourages All New Yorkers to Make Donations, Including Toys, Household Supplies, and Financial Contributions; Toy Industry Association Pledges 250 Toys

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today launched a statewide holiday giving drive to benefit families in flood affected communities. The giving drive is part of the Governor's "NYGives" campaign, a statewide effort to encourage charitable giving and generosity throughout the holiday season. "NYGives" connects businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and those seeking to give with organizations that directly serve New Yorkers most in need. The campaign will continue through the end of 2011.

Merton Williams Middle School Students Donate Coats for Kids

On Wednesday December 14th, Senator Robach had the opportunity to visit with students at Merton Williams Middle School in Hilton. Claire Drexler, a teacher at Merton Williams, helped to spread the word about the Coats for Kids Winter Clothes Drive this month. Today, students joined to help load up the pick up truck with dozens of bags of winter coats and articles of clothes that will be donated to organizations and families around the area. Thank you to all the students, faculty, and staff for your support of the Coats for Kids Winter Clothes Drive. Also, this Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Senator Robach will join WDKX 103.9 FM for a Coats for Kids drive at the Monroe County Office Building, 39 West Main Street in Rochester.

Brighton's French Road Elementary School Honored as Blue Ribbon School

On Friday, December 9th, Senator Robach had the privilege to speak at a ceremony at French Road Elementary School in Brighton to celebrate their recognition as a Blue Ribbon School. French Road Elementary School and Pine Brook Elementary School (in Greece) were the only two area schools to win this National award. Congratulations to the students and staff of French Road, and best wishes for continued success!

Annual Astoria Toy Drive

The Queens Gazette reported on the Annual Astoria Toy Drive where more than 200 children showed up to meet Santa Claus in addition to enjoying other festivities like karaoke, a magician and delicious cheeseburgers. Senator Gianaris attended this annual event to participate in the holiday festivities. 

The 114th Precinct and 114th Community Council held its annual Christmas party and toy giveaway on December 3 at Riccardo’s by the Bridge in Astoria. More than 200 neighborhood children came to meet Santa Claus at the joyous event that also featured karaoke, a magician and McDonald’s cheeseburgers.

Since birth, both girls have lived with cerebral palsy – a debilitating disease that has forced them to endure struggles, but has failed to deter their spirits.
