Staff Analysis of the SFY 2009-10 Executive Budget Vols. I & II

This analysis of the Executive Budget begins with a summary of the spending plan. It then examines an explanation of receipts and provides for Senate issues in focus. Finally, it examines appropriations and disbursements for each agency and program included in the budget. The report provides a comparison of the appropriations recommended this year with those approved last year, and an analysis of the Governor’s recommendations.

State Senators Valesky and Johnson Urge Comptroller to Pull State Pension Funds Over Libyan Terrorist Release

SYRACUSE, N.Y.--State Senators David J. Valesky (D-Oneida) and Craig M. Johnson (D-Nassau), incensed over the release and subsequent “hero’s welcome” received by the terrorist convicted of the Pam Am Flight 103 bombings, today sent a letter to NYS Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli urging him to divest state pension funds from any United Kingdom-based companies that conduct business with Libya.

This call for divestment comes as a result of information suggesting that Scotland's release of  Abdel Baset al-Megrahi was somehow influenced by the desire for United Kingdom-based companies to forge closer economic ties with the Libyan government.

New York State Senate CIO Andrew Hoppin greeted paticipants at Capitol Camp, an "unconference" dedicated to discussing the future of technology and state government in New York on June 5th, 2009. The overarching theme was to leverage technology to better serve the people of New York and make government more open, effective, transparent, and participatory. The event was co-hosted with the New York State CIO's Office.
