Senator Larkin Cosponsors Legislation To Repeal Utility Tax Increase

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) cosponsored legislation that would repeal a new tax on utilities included in the 2009-10 state budget.

Senate Bill 6132 would repeal a new law that went into effect July 1st requiring individuals and businesses to pay a 2% New York State Mandated tax for gas and electric utilities. The money from this tax will be sent directly to the state's general fund.

Democrats Target Sportsmen With Higher Fees - $22 Million Hit To Upstate Economy

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) today spoke out about increased fees for hunting and fishing licenses.

"As sportsmen prepare for the upcoming hunting and fishing seasons, many are beginning to realize that almost every sporting license has increased significantly since last year," said Senator Larkin. "The license fee increases were included in this year's disastrous state budget, put together in secret by Governor Paterson and the Legislature's Democratic majorities."

The general and specific findings of the Senate Finance Committee and the Assembly Ways and Means Committee relating to the proposed disbursements for the overall purposes of the State government during the the 2008-09 fiscal year. These proposed disbursements are consistent with estimates of receipts for the 2008-09 fiscal year. It is legislative intent that these budgetary findings be received as guidelines for administrative application in the new fiscal year.

State Funding For Our Senate District (senate Initiative Funding)

Requests for Senate Initiative funding conclude each January 1 for the next year's State budget (the State fiscal year runs from April 1 through the next March 31).    Municipalities and not for profit corporations are eligible to apply for funding.  Projects most likely to be funded include requests for capital assistance (building construction/equipment purchase) in amounts of $10,000 or less,
