Senator William T. Stachowski (D, Lake View) reminds residents that every year, on the third Saturday of May, people across the nation honor past and present members of the United States military by commemorating their dedication and sacrifice on Armed Forces Day.

“This is a day to proudly salute the men and women in all branches of service who have dedicated their lives for our freedom, our safety and our way of life,” said Senator Stachowski.

Stachowski (D, Lake View) today paid solemn tribute to New York’s fallen police officers at the annual Police Officers Memorial and Remembrance Ceremony in Albany which honors the memory and sacrifice of police officers from around New York State who have been slain in the line of duty.

While we live in a world where the right to free speech is used to spread hate and bigotry towards our brothers and sisters in Israel, we must remember that this same right allows us to protest such venomous attacks. It must be made clear that freedom of speech used to spew anti-American and anti-Semitic rhetoric may be permitted by the law, but it is not tolerated by the people. Ahmadinejad may come to our soil to enjoy and abuse the very rights he does not grant his own people, however that does not mean we will not stand-up and fight against his words.
