Huntley (Chairperson of Cities) help pass legislation that was signed by Governor Patterson necessary to approve the sale of the housing developments to the entity managed by New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA). Griffo Condemns Senate Holiday Break as a "Charade"

Senator Griffo voted against emergency spending that would allow the Senate to take a weeklong recess despite the looming budget deadline.  On the floor of the Senate, Griffo explained his 'no' vote:  "I just think it’s unacceptable.  We should continue to work and strive for this community objective and the responsibility that has been entrusted to us.  For that reason, I vote no."

Squadron Still Tireless

You know something, I think we got a good deal voting Daniel Squadron into office a year and a half ago. He's definitely moving about, legislating all over the place and generally not letting the grass grow between his politically committed toes. It helps, of course, that his party now rules the State Senate (with minor interruptions), and it helps that the guy is a born policy wonk. So we ask him periodically what he's been up to, and he e-grabs us by the lapels and informs.

Senate Majority Passes "Sunshine" Legislation To Hold Government Accountable

“Sunshine” Package Passes, Further Opens Legislative Process to Public

The New York State Democratic Majority took another step forward today in lifting the veil on state government records by passing a package of four Sunshine Policy bills which reform the Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) and state Open Meetings Law. The package is designed to provide the public with greater access to information about State government as well as easier access to programs, processes and overall governmental activity.

Web Analytics Report 2/13/10 - 2/27/10


This is the bi-weekly report on the New York State Senate’s web presence. Last week the website received a total of 54805 visits, up by nearly 1,00 since the last report and 2,200 over the last month. It had a bounce rate of 53%, higher than it’s long term average of 42%, and new visitors 70% of the time, higher than the long term average of 67%, and one point higher than the last report. The all time graph at the bottom of the first page shows that the average level of website activity has risen since the commencement of session in January and is experiencing similar amounts of activity as it experienced last year during session.
