CHILDREN’S HEALTH BILL SIGNED INTO LAW

(Albany, NY) Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins (35th District - D/WF) announced that the Child Health Plus and School Meals Enrollment Coordination Act (S4057B) has been signed into law by Governor David Paterson. Since the majority of children who are not participating in Child Health Plus are attending school and qualify for the Free and Reduced Price School Meals Program, this law coordinates the sharing of information to better serve our State's children.

Mothers: Know Your Rights!

In late 2009 I sponsored and pushed through Legislation (S1107) to establish a Breastfeeding Mothers’ Bill of Rights. All too often women are made to feel ashamed when they breastfeed, which can lead them to quit breastfeeding their babies prematurely.
