     Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District) and Legislator Laura Schaefer (R-14th Legislative District), in conjunction with NuHealth, are sponsoring a breast cancer screening program on Wednesday, September 9th from 9 am to 12 pm at the Westbury Library (445 Jefferson Street, Westbury).

     Appointments are necessary and will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. On site nurses and technicians will provide a mammography, a clinical breast examination and instructions for self examination. Patients and their physicians will be notified of the exam results.

     NuHealth’s guidelines for the program are as follows:

     • The program is open to Nassau County women age 40 and over.

Funding Secured to Support the Mission of the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester

Senator Young, colleagues announce $200,000 grant for the organization

 

ALBANY – Women and men in Livingston County will benefit from expanded services thanks to a $200,000 grant secured by Senator Catharine Young (R,C,I - 57th District) for the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester. 

 

Senator Young joined a group of Senator, including Senator Patrick Gallivan to work for the funding to reach a 10 county area. The grant will be administred by the State health department.

Members of the New York State Senate Monroe County Delegation Secure Funding for the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester

Members of the New York State Senate Monroe County Delegation, Senators Mike Nozzolio, Rich Funke, Catharine Young, Patrick Gallivan, Robert Ortt, Joseph Robach, Thomas O’Mara, and Michael Ranzenhofer, have announced that they have secured state funding for the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester, as part of the 2015-2016 New York State Budget.

The $200,000 state grant, administered by the New York State Department of Health, will help assist the Coalition with outreach to individuals impacted by breast cancer and help to provide expanded cancer services in the region.

Capital New York: Bill to expand health coverage for pregnant women approved

Today, Capital New York reported that the Senate and Assembly passed bills that would make pregnancy a qualifying event triggering a special enrollment period for the state health insurance exchange, allowing pregnant women to enroll in a health plan at any time.  The bills, sponsored in the Senate by Senators Seward and Hannon, and in the Assembly by Assembly Member Simotas, was the result of efforts by Sen. Krueger, Assm. Simotas, NYC Comptroller Scott Stringer, and advocates to close this loophole in the federal Affordable Care Act.

Statement From Sen. Krueger On Assembly Passage Of “Boss Bill”

New York – State Senator Liz Krueger released the following statement today, after the passage in the Assembly of legislation known as the Boss Bill (A.1142-A/S.2709-A), which would ban employers from discriminating against employees on the basis of their personal reproductive health decisions. The bill passed by a vote of 87 to 27, with support from members of both parties, including Assembly Member Jane Corwin (R-Clarence) who spoke in favor of the bill during floor debate. Senator Valesky Hosts Community Resources Fair

State Senator David J. Valesky (D-Oneida) is hosting a Community Resources Fair on Thursday, June 25, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to raise awareness of the many community services available through various governmental and nonprofit organizations.
