Reproductive Rights Are Not Negotiable

The passage of a health care reform bill with a public option in the House ought to be cause for celebration, but an amendment added at the last minute eviscerating the reproductive rights of women casts a dark cloud over this historic victory. The Stupak-Pitts amendment represents the biggest threat to reproductive freedom in decades - and it must be removed from the final bill.

Padavan Host Mammography Screening In Bellerose

On Saturday November 14th,  New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) and the American-Italian Cancer Foundation hosted a mammography screening event outside of Padavan’s Bellerose District Office. The no-cost screenings took place on the Foundation’s fully contained mobile mammography van. There were no-out-of-pocket expense and no co-pays for both insured and uninsured women.

Senator Serrano Honored for Advocacy Against Domestic Violence

Today Senator Serrano was honored for his support of the Mount Sinai Sexual Assault and Violence Intervention Program (SAVI), and for his commitment to combating sexual assault and domestic violence in underserved areas.
