South Street project funding clears another hurdle

GLENS FALLS -- A $1 million federal funding request for the city's South Street revitalization project has cleared another hurdle, according to the office of U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y.

The funding was retained in the latest version of a federal transportation, housing and urban development budget bill that was approved this week by a joint House and Senate conference committee, said Max Young, a spokesman for Schumer.

Senator Valesky Opens Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit Workshop

SYRACUSE, N.Y.—State Senator David J. Valesky (D-Oneida) delivered opening remarks at a workshop that provided details about application of the Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit, a law sponsored by Senator Valesky.

The workshop, sponsored by the Metropolitan Development Association, Preservation League, New York State Historic Preservation Office, and the New York State Urban Council, drew more than 100 people, including developers, homeowners, economic development professionals, municipal leaders and real estate agents.

Major Economic Development Initiative Is One of Seven Valesky Bills Signed into Law This Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y.—Businesses that have found it difficult to navigate state regulations or find available funding will now have a place to go for help, thanks to one of seven bills sponsored by State Senator David J. Valesky (D-Oneida) that were signed into law yesterday.

The legislation (S3076) creates regional “one-stop” economic development centers where business owners can learn about state programs that benefit their businesses and receive help in navigating sometimes complicated federal, state and local regulations, including licensing and permitting.
