Legislation provides for free temporary licenses to use fishing as rehab for military personnel

WATERTOWN (April 1, 2010)—With trout and salmon fishing season beginning today, State Sen. Darrel J. Aubertine said he is pushing legislation (S.7041) that would encourage more fishing events as physical and emotional rehabilitation for veterans or active duty members of the armed forces.

Senator DeFrancisco Makes $100 Contribution to Girl Scouts Sending Cookies to Armed Forces

New York State Senator John A. DeFrancisco made a $100 contribution to Katie Stewart, a local girl scout from Brewerton, New York. Under the leadership of Katie’s mother, Kelly Stewart, Katie and other girls in her Brownie Troop are collecting donations to send cookies to members of armed forces who are currently serving abroad. This is the third consecutive year that Katie and her fellow Brownies have made such a charitable effort.

Padavan Welcomes Troops Home at Freedom Salute

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) joined with family, friends and fellow veteran’s to welcome home troops from the 27th Financial Management Detachment at “Freedom Salute” ceremony at the Whitestone Armory on Saturday January 10, 2009. Padavan personally greeted the nearly two dozen soliders following their successful deployment and dedicated service in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
