Senator Grisanti nominates Matthew Mondeoux to Veterans’ Hall Of Fame

Senator Mark Grisanti (R-60) today announced  that he is nominating Matthew Mondeoux of the City of Niagara Falls to the New York Senate's Veterans' Hall of Fame. 

The New York State Senate Veterans' Hall of Fame was created in 2005 to honor and recognize outstanding veterans from across the Empire State who have distinguished themselves both in military and civilian life.  The Hall of Fame provides an expression of our gratitude and admiration for their meritorious service to our nation.

SENATE PASSES LEGISLATION TO HELP DISABLED VETERANS

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) and his colleagues in the New York State Senate recently passed legislation (S.2423) that would give greater access to state contracts to veterans who were disabled during their service.

This bill would codify for New York an identical and highly successful program adopted for federal contracting. Given the increase in the number of veterans and disabled veterans due to recent overseas conflicts, this bill would provide a small measure of recognition that this group of selfless men and women deserve.

Senator DeFrancisco Congratulates Recipients of New York State's First Veterans Build

On May 17, 2012, State Senator John A. DeFrancisco helped celebrate the first-ever Veterans Build through Syracuse Habitat for Humanity. The two houses, located at 113 and 115 Fitch Street, were built for disabled veterans, Mike Smith and Felicia Plunkett. They are affordable, energy efficient, and handicap accessible. SENATOR GOLDEN TO HOST ANNUAL MEMORIAL DAY BREAKFAST AND AWARDS EVENT

Brooklyn- State Senator Marty Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn), a member of the State Senate Committee on Homeland Security, Military and Veteran Affairs, is announcing plans to honor local veterans at a Memorial Day breakfast and awards ceremony, to be held on Thursday, May 24, 2012, at 9:30 a.m. at the Bay Ridge Manor, located at 476-76th Street in Brooklyn.

Senator Golden will pay tribute to the sacrifices made by the men and women of our community in the name of the United States of America. The extraordinary service of Fort Hamilton Army Base Garrison Commander Colonel Michael J. Gould and Garrison Command Sergeant Major Sylvia P. Laughlin will be recognized at the event.

LaValle Names Two to NY State Senate’s Veterans Hall of Fame, Shelter Island 1st Lieutenant Joseph James Theinert and Marine Lance Corporal Jordan C. Haerter of Sag Harbor to Receive Award Posthumously May 22.

Two East End war veterans will be posthumously inducted into the New York State Senate’s Veterans Hall of Fame on May 22 in an Albany ceremony it was announced today by New York State Senator Kenneth P. LaValle who nominated the pair -- US Army  1st Lieutenant Joseph J. Theinert  from Shelter Island and Marine Lance Corporal Jordan C. Haerter of Sag Harbor --  for the state honor.

“Joe Theinert and Jordan Haerter are true heroes who gave their lives to protecting the freedoms we treasure. They should be recognized and commended by our State and community,” said Senator LaValle.  “The New York State Veterans’ Hall of Fame is a tribute to these two fine young men that demonstrates our respect and gratitude for their patriotism and sacrifice.”

SENATOR RITCHIE HONORS CNY/NNY VETERANS

Senator Patty Ritchie hosted a celebration at Fort Drum to honor 39 veterans from Oswego, Jefferson and St. Lawrence Counties.

The event commemorates Military Appreciation Month, held each May, and also introduced Senator Ritchie's choice for induction to the NY State Senate Veterans Hall of Fame.
