HERO REMEMBERED

It is with great sadness to report that World War II hero Kenneth Johnson (in photo on right) has passed away as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.  Our sincere sympathies go out to the Johnson family and we pray for the speedy recovery of his great grandson.  Recently we were able to honor Kenneth and below is a link to an article about that special day.

Brighton Veterans Memorial Kick-Off

On Sunday, November 14th, Senator Robach attended, and spoke at, a ceremony to announce a new Veterans memorial in Brighton. The memorial will be in Buckland Park, located on Westfall Road. Ground is expected to be broken in the spring, and the hope is to have the memorial ready by next summer.You can read more information about the memorial at www.townofbrighton.org. Senator Robach here is pictured with Mary Taylor, who is designing the memorial. The display in the middle is a miniature version of the top of the monument.

Senator George Maziarz was the guest speaker at the 235th United States Marine Corps Birthday Ball on November 13, 2010 in North Tonawanda.  Several individuals were recognized for 60+ years membership with Conrad Kania Detachment, Marine Corps League.  Semper Fidelis!

Senator Antoine Thompson Holds Annual Parade To Honor Veterans

Buffalo, NY- For the second year New York State Senator Antoine Thompson (D-parts of Erie & Niagara counties) pays tribute to members of the military, both past and present by hosting a Veterans Day Parade.  The parade started at the intersection of Summer and Delaware in downtown Buffalo and eventually made its way down to Niagara Square.

Leading the parade was State Senator Antoine Thompson, along with this year’s Grand Marshals, Judge Robert Russell Jr. and Colonel Patrick J. Cunningham.  Prior to last year’s parade the city of Buffalo had not hosted a Veteran’s Day parade in more than 35 years.

Senator Flanagan Joins Salute To Veterans At The Long Island State Veterans Home

Members of Daniel Goho Post 87 in Dansville Honored

The Daniel Goho Post 87 of the American Legion in Dansville recently honored its long serving members. Among those honored for 65 years of continuous service were, pictured here with Senator Young) (l-r): William Kelly, Roy Werth, Senator Young, Robert Hemmer, and Paul Gerling. Also recognized for their 65 years of service but unable to attend were, Kenneth Bennett, George Bacon, Robert Drum, Demerle Johnson, and Paul MacDonald. Sincere gratitude to all veterans for their service to our country. Also, special thanks to Legion Commander Dennis Mahus and Auxilliary President Ann Mahus for their leadership.

Klein Hosts 4th Annual Veterans Day Breakfast

Rochester Vet Center Opens in Brighton

On Thursday, November 11th, I had the honor to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Rochester Vet Center, which opened in Brighton. The center, previously located in Rochester, is now located at 2000 S. Winton Road, across the street from the Jewish Home.

Senator Parker Honors Our Fallen Heroes

(Albany, New York) On November 11, we celebrate Veteran’s Day, a day for us to pay tribute to those who have fought to protect our country. This year, Governor David Paterson signed my legislation, which will take effect on Veterans’ Day 2010. This law will allow for the respectful disposition of the unidentified cremated remains (cremains) of veterans.

Greece Performing Arts Society Honors Veterans

On Tuesday night, November 9th, Greece Performing Arts Society held a Veteran's Day Musical Salute. During the program, Senator Robach provided remarks, and gave a flag away to the oldest veteran in the audience, who was 100-year old Greece resident Virginia Mathony. The evening featured performances from Greece Concert Band, Greece Choral Society, and Greece Community Orchestra.

On Saturday, November 6th, American Legion Post #468 in Greece held its Veterans Day Ceremony. Senator Robach provided remarks during the ceremony. Wreaths were planted at the memorial located on the grounds. Town of Greece Veterans Day Ceremony

On Saturday, November 6th, the Town of Greece held its annual Veterans Day Ceremony at Greece Town Hall. Senator Robach provided remarks prior to the ceremony, and also led attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance. Following the ceremony indoors, wreaths were planted at the outdoor memorial.
