Senate Celebrates West Point Day

Rochester, NY - On Thursday, April 26th, the New York State Senate celebrated West Point Day. This annual celebration is held to honor all of those brave men and women who have served, and continue to serve our Country, both at home, and overseas. Thank you to all of our servicemen and women for their dedication and courage. Here I am pictured with retired Lieutenant Colonel Bill Larkin, who served 23 years on active duty in the United States Army, and is now my colleague in the Senate.

Senator Kennedy Presents State Honors to Cheektowaga Veteran, Helps Connect Local Veterans to Support Resources at Outreach Event

Senator awards, posthumously, New York State Medal for Merit to Cheektowaga man who earned recognition in World War II but did not receive medal prior to passing

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. – Senator Timothy M. Kennedy, D-58th District, held an event Friday to help connect Veterans to the services and support they earned while serving our great nation. Over 200 Veterans visited Cheektowaga’s Pvt. Leonard Post V.F.W. Post to attend Senator Kennedy’s Veterans Outreach Fair and learn more about resources available to them.

WNY Veterans: Join Us Friday, April 20 for Event Planned to Connect You to Support You’ve Earned in Service to Nation

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Senator Timothy M. Kennedy, D-58th District, announced that he is holding an event to help connect Veterans to the services and support they earned while serving our great nation. Senator Kennedy’s Veterans Outreach Fair will be Friday, April 20 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Pvt. Leonard Post V.F.W. Post at 2450 Walden Ave. in Cheektowaga.

Senator Kennedy invites Veterans from throughout Western New York to attend the event. Because space is limited at the Pvt. Leonard Post V.F.W. Post, all who would like to attend are asked to RSVP by calling Senator Kennedy’s office at 716-826-2683.

Senator Martins Introduces Bill to Assist Veteran-Owned Businesses

In an effort to assist veterans from New York State in establishing businesses, New York State Senator Jack M. Martins has introduced a bill in the New York State Senate (S.6627) to promote the participation of veteran-owned businesses in the performance of state contracts.

Under Senator Martins’ bill, three percent of all contracts from state contracting agencies would be awarded to veteran-owned businesses, ensuring that certified, veteran-owned businesses be given the opportunity to participate in the performance of state contracts. A veteran-owned business is described an a business enterprise that is at least 51 percent owned by a veteran who is a resident of New York State and has served on active duty in the United States Armed Forces.
