SENATOR GREG BALL SECURES $11.4 MILLION IN FUNDING FOR VETERANS

Senator Greg Ball (R, C, 40th District –Westchester/Putnam/Dutchess) has secured a staggering $11.5 Million for New York State Veterans during a tough budget battle in the Senate chamber, where all operating budgets were cut by 10% across the board. In the budget, Ball successfully restored $10.9 Million to Veterans’ Homes located in Montrose, New York City, Oxford, Stony Brook and Batavia, all of which had been previously cut.

Senator Flanagan Supports Senator Zeldin’s Act To Limit Protests At Military Funerals

Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) today voted in favor of legislation sponsored by Senator Lee Zeldin (3rd Senate District) that would limit protests at military funerals.  Called “The Specialist Thomas Wilwerth Military Dignity Act,” the proposed law is named for an Iraq War Veteran who lost his life in combat in 2006.

Senate Passes Legislation to Limit Protests at Military Funerals, Additional Legislation to Support Veterans

The New York State Senate Monday passed legislation (S.3901) that would limit protests at military funerals.  Called “The Specialist Thomas Wilwerth Military Dignity Act,” the proposed law is named for an Iraq War Veteran who lost his life in combat in 2006.

 

 

This legislation is part of a package of Veterans bills that was passed by the Senate Monday. 

 

 

In addition, the Senate passed legislation that would significantly enhance the protection of property, rights and services available to current and former military personnel. The seven bills would build upon the Senate’s ongoing commitment to increase support for veterans and their families.
