STACHOWSKI CALLS FOR HARSHER PUNISHMENT FOR VETERANS’ CEMETERY DESECRATION

      The State Senate has today passed legislation (S.8289) sponsored by Senator William T. Stachowski (D, Lake View) that would create a new crime for cemetery desecration of a veteran cemetery plot, grave or burial place.  The measure would also prohibit anyone from selling veteran commemorative cemetery markers, flag holders, monuments, statues or other physical memorabilia that are over 75 years old if those items are already placed or located within a cemetery.

NYS Senator Eric Adams Announces Passage of "POW-MIA Flag Bill"

 

NYS Senator Eric Adams announces that S7275, legislation known as the “POW-MIA flag bill,” has passed in the Senate. The bill requires the NYS Capitol to fly the Prisoner Of War – Missing In Action Flag whenever the U.S. flag is flown.

Honor Trip Flight With Big Reception

It was a patriotic Father's Day celebration Sunday at

the Greater Rochester International Airport, where

multiple generations of loved ones gathered with

flags, balloons, banners, cheers and even tears.

 

Their presence was a surprise for a group of about

55 World War II veterans returning home from the

nation's capital, thanks to the organization Honor

Flight Rochester.

Benefit Seminar for Veterans 55+

I would like to take this opportunity to announce a new initiative taking place in our community.  The New York State Division of Veterans' Affairs along with veterans service organizations, federal, state and local agencies will be hosting a benefit seminar for veterans age 55 and older.  This seminar will provide veterans and their families with information on programs and services in New York State that may be available to them.  The event will occur on June 24th at the Monroe Community College.

USS Liberty Memorial Unveiled

The USS Liberty Memorial at Ontario Beach Park was unveiled on Saturday, June 12. Senator Robach provided remarks prior to the unveiling.

 

The memorial is located on the beach between Lake Ontario and the Genesee River, which is north of the Dentzel Menagerie Carousel in Charlotte.

 

On June 8, 1967, the USS Liberty was struck by jet fighter aircraft and motor torpedo boats in international waters north of the Sinai Peninsula. Of the 294 men on the ship, 170 were wounded and 34 perished as a result of the attack.

Senator Foley Supports Our Veterans

Senator Brian X. Foley (D – Blue Point) announced today that a legislative package has passed the senate which will expand benefits available to both veterans and service members serving on active duty. Senator Flanagan Proudly Inducts Edward J. Borowski Into Senate Veterans' Hall Of Fame

Senator John J. Flanagan (2nd Senate District) recently had the privilege of presenting Mr. Edward J. Borowski as his honoree for induction into the New York State Senate Veteran’s Hall of Fame at a special ceremony in Albany.  Mr. Borowski, who was nominated by his son Paul E. Borowski, served in the United States Navy during World War II.
