Rochester Vet Center Opens in Brighton

On Thursday, November 11th, I had the honor to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Rochester Vet Center, which opened in Brighton. The center, previously located in Rochester, is now located at 2000 S. Winton Road, across the street from the Jewish Home.

Senator Parker Honors Our Fallen Heroes

(Albany, New York) On November 11, we celebrate Veteran’s Day, a day for us to pay tribute to those who have fought to protect our country. This year, Governor David Paterson signed my legislation, which will take effect on Veterans’ Day 2010. This law will allow for the respectful disposition of the unidentified cremated remains (cremains) of veterans.

Greece Performing Arts Society Honors Veterans

On Tuesday night, November 9th, Greece Performing Arts Society held a Veteran's Day Musical Salute. During the program, Senator Robach provided remarks, and gave a flag away to the oldest veteran in the audience, who was 100-year old Greece resident Virginia Mathony. The evening featured performances from Greece Concert Band, Greece Choral Society, and Greece Community Orchestra.

American Legion Post #468 Salutes Veterans

On Saturday, November 6th, American Legion Post #468 in Greece held its Veterans Day Ceremony. Senator Robach provided remarks during the ceremony. Wreaths were planted at the memorial located on the grounds. Town of Greece Veterans Day Ceremony

On Saturday, November 6th, the Town of Greece held its annual Veterans Day Ceremony at Greece Town Hall. Senator Robach provided remarks prior to the ceremony, and also led attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance. Following the ceremony indoors, wreaths were planted at the outdoor memorial.

A Time To Honor Our Veterans

On Veterans Day, Americans should pause and reflect on the sacrifices made by our veterans.  Whether combat veterans or Cold War veterans, all who served need to be given proper praise for a job well done.  Our veterans have faced hardships that a non-veteran could never fully understand.  Some have faced death in defending our nation’s freedom.  Veterans possess the core American values of loyalty, duty, respect, honor, selfless service, personal courage and integrity.

Final Honor Flight Trip of 2010

On Sunday, October 31st, Senator Robach welcomed home veterans who went on the final Honor Flight of 2010. Men from our local Battle of the Bulge Chapter made the trip over the weekend to Washington D.C. to visit the World War II Memorial and Arlington Cemetery. SENATOR LARKIN ANNOUNCES THE AVAILABILITY OF A NEW BURIAL OPTION FOR VETERANS

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) recently announced that the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has made available a new medallion, which is to be affixed to an existing privately purchased headstone or marker to signify a deceased person’s status as a veteran.

THEINERT MEMORIAL WAY ROAD SIGN TO BE UNVEILED

Senator Kenneth P. LaValle today announced that he will be joined by Assemblyman Marc Alessi, Shelter Island Supervisor James Dougherty, and the Theinert family for the unveiling of the “Lt. Joseph J. Theinert Memorial Way” road sign on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. on Shelter Island.  The sign that will be displayed was created by the NYS Department of Transportation and is an actual size mock up of what the road sign will look like when it is installed.

WNY HEROES trip flies WWII veterans to the capital for a memorable visit

Senator George Maziarz is pleased to announce that the day has finally arrived—the WNY HEROES trip flies today!  Thirty-four World War II veterans from Western New York are being flown to Washington, DC to visit the World War II Memorial and other area monuments and memorials.  None of them have yet visited the memorial dedicated to the war they helped win.  The World War II Memorial was completed in 2004.

ADDABBO HOSTS ANNUAL BARBEQUE FOR OVER 40 VETeranS & FAMILY MEMBERS

Queens, NY, September 28, 2010 – On Saturday, September 25, between Noon and 4 PM, NYS Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr., welcomed over 40 veterans and their families to enjoy their annual barbeque outside his Howard Beach district office and the last outdoor event of the season the Senator will sponsor.  Addabbo serves on the Senate's Veterans, Homeland Security & Military Affairs Committee.

The veterans and their family members were served hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage and peppers, ice cream and soda by the Senator’s staff and local residents, while they spent a hot afternoon enjoying camaraderie and the Rodney Dangerfield-styled comedy and music of Rock’n’ Randy Novick.
