SENATOR KLEIN NOMINATES BRONX MAN TO VETERANS’ HALL OF FAME

Former Marine Has Dedicated Life to Advocating for Veterans and the Bronx

 

State Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) announced that local community leader, Pat Devine, was inducted into the new NYS Senate Veterans Hall of Fame on Tuesday, June 1st. Klein nominated Devine to the position last month, citing his commitment to advocating for veterans and his fellow Bronx residents for more than three decades. Senator Klein will honor Devine at his annual fireworks extravaganza at Orchard Beach next month.

Veterans Hall of Fame Celebration

On June 1st, NYS Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Senator Eric Adams announced a new and improved NYS Senate Veterans Hall of Fame. Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins was joined in Albany by Yonkers resident and a 2010 nominee, Eli Michael Vetrano, who is a United States Army veteran. In the coming weeks, a ceremony will be held to honor all members of the Hall of Fame in the 35th District, recognizing their service in the United States Armed Forces.

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) today announced that Merrick resident Robert Tom Riordan, a Marine Corps veteran, has been named to the New York State Senate’s Veterans Hall of Fame. The program recognizes veterans from all across the state for either extraordinary efforts in combat or in work performed after discharge from the service.

American citizens throughout this great land of ours gather on Memorial Day to remember our veterans, past and present.  We gather in cemeteries, large and small.  We come together in city parks and town squares and village greens to celebrate our most meaningful and important observance.  Our nation has observed Memorial Day for over a century, since the time of the Civil War.
