Senator Venditto Brings Senior ID Card program to the Lindenhurst Memorial Library

New York State Senator Michael Venditto, (R, C, I- Massapequa) recently partnered with the Suffolk County Sheriffʼs office and Senator Phil Boyle to sponsor a free Senior I.D. Program at the Lindenhurst Memorial Library. Over 80 Seniors who were able to take advantage of this opportunity to get a free Senior ID. Special thanks to Deputy Maurelli and Butch Langhorn from the Suffolk County Sheriffʼs office for helping to provide this service.

Senator Venditto Reads Aloud to Freeport's New Visions School

New York State Senator Michael Venditto, (R, C, I- Massapequa) recently had the opportunity to read aloud to Freeport New Visions School's first grade class.

Senator Venditto read "Giggle, Giggle, Quack" by Doreen Cronin, a book that teaches children about cleverness, farm animals, creativity and imagination. Senator Venditto also talked with the 1st Graders about his job as a New York State Senator and the importance of public service.

MALLIOTAKIS, GOLDEN URGE RESIDENTS TO BE VIGILANT AGAINST PHONE SCAMS

Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis (R,C,I-Bay Ridge) and State Senator Marty Golden (R,C,I-Southwest Brooklyn) are urging constituents to remain vigilant against the evolving threat of telephone scams.  The most recent incarnation involves the scammers calling to threaten arrest for failure to pay past taxes owed or utility fees, unless payment is made through a reloadable debit card easily purchased at local stores.  The calls are disguised to appear on caller ID screens as numbers belonging to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) or National Grid.

Senator Boyle Hosts FREE Breast Cancer Screening

According to the National Breast Cancer foundation, Breast Cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women. That is why Senator Phil Boyle is hosting a FREE Breast Cancer screening at the Wyandanch Public Library.

Mammogram screenings are open to women 40 and older who have not been screened in the past year. Details of the event are below:

NBC New York: NY Senator Proposes New Law to Clarify Sex Offender Residency Rules

New York State Sen. Tony Avella has introduced new legislation demanding more uniform sex offender residency laws after NBC 4 New York's I-Team discovered a discrepancy in how far from a school offenders can live.

Last week, the I-Team exposed a legal loophole that allowed level 2 and 3 sex offenders on parole or probation to live at the Bellevue Men's Shelter over the last several years, despite a state law saying they must live at least 1,000 feet from any school.

The private Churchill School and Center is just around the corner from the shelter, and depending on how someone measures the distance from the men’s city shelter on 30th Street, that distance can be above or under the mandatory 1,000-foot rule.

Senator Farley Greets Herkimer County 4-H Youth

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I – Schenectady) enjoyed spending time with 4-H’ers from Herkimer County on April 21st when they came to Albany to tour the Capital. He discussed State government and history with the group. The students and chaperones on the trip hailed from Herkimer County towns such as Town of Webb, Poland, Dolgeville, Central Valley, and Frankfort Schuyler.
