Race on the Ridge 5k

I was pleased to join the Greece Chamber of Commerce (NY) for its annual Race on the Ridge 5k and serve as the Honorary Chairperson for this year's race. Proceeds from the race benefited the Greece Chamber Charitable Foundation and the Greece Performing Arts Society. Thanks to all of the runners for their participation and to all of the volunteers for their hard work!

SENATOR MARTINS JOINS WITH CARLE PLACE SCHOOL DISTRICT AT HOMECOMING

     Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District) recently joined with the Carle Place School District at their homecoming game.

     Senator Martins, along with Assemblyman Ed Ra, Legislator Laura Schaefer, and East Williston Deputy Mayor Bonnie Parente, also joined with district officials and students in cutting the ribbon on Carle Place High School’s brand new athletic field.

     Senator Martins (fifth left) is pictured as he helps Carle Place students, staff, and administrators officially open Carle Place High School’s new turf field. He’s joined by Assemblyman Ra, Legislator Schaefer, and Deputy Mayor Parente.

SENATOR GREG BALL AGAIN RANKED MOST CONSERVATIVE SENATOR

Brewster, N.Y. – 10/10/2014 – Senator Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson), Chairman of the Senate Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee, has again been ranked the most Conservative Senator by the New York State Conservative Party.

The Conservative Party used a total of twenty bills to create the ranking system, awarding each member 5 points for each bill that aliened with the Conservative Party’s stance. Senator Greg Ball received an 80% score, out of a possible 100%.

CLAY PITS POND STATE PARK PRESERVE - Fall Events Guide (October-December)

Clay Pit Ponds State Park Preserve is a 260-acre natural area near the southwest shore of Staten Island. Once the site of clay-mining, the Preserve today contains a mixture of unique habitats such as wetlands, fields, sandy barrens, spring-fed streams and woodlands. Senator DeFrancisco Attends Taiwanese Flag Raising at Syracuse City Hall

State Senator John A. DeFrancisco is pictured with Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner and Elizabeth Lin, President of the Upstate New York Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce, at the annual Taiwanese Flag Raising Ceremony in Syracuse.  Senator DeFrancisco presented Ms. Lin with a Senate Citation to commemorate the event, which was held in front of Syracuse City Hall on October 10, 2014.

SENATOR MARTINS JOINS WITH NORTH SHORE CHILD & FAMILY GUIDANCE CENTER AT REDEDICATION OF BEREAVEMENT & TRAUMA CENTER IN ROSLYN HEIGHTS

     Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District) recently attended the re-dedication of North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center’s Lucille & Martin Kantor Bereavement and Trauma Center in Roslyn Heights. 

     The Center offers assistance to children, youths and their families during times of grief and trauma, including family members of suicide victims and parents of murdered children. People in need can take advantage of these services by calling 516-626-1971.

SENATOR MARTINS HONORS NEW HYDE PARK’S NEWEST EAGLE SCOUTS

     Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District) recently honored New Hyde Park residents David Capodanno and Domenic Pietromonaco for attaining the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. Senator Martins attended the Court of Honor to personally congratulate David and Domenic, members of Boy Scout Troop 544, on earning scouting’s highest honor.

     “After many years of hard work, serving their community and rising through scouting’s ranks, David and Domenic achieved a goal which only a select few ever attain; the rank of Eagle Scout. The entire community is very proud of David and Domenic, and we congratulate them on attaining this very prestigious honor,” said Senator Martins.
