BALL-PAULIN “HANNAH’S LAW” PASS SENATE FIGHT CONTINUES FOR LOCAL FAMILY

 

Brewster, N.Y. – (5/22/12) – After a four year struggle with the legislature and insurance industry, Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) has passed Hannah’s Law (S5034A) through the New York State Senate. The legislation is named after Yorktown resident, Hannah Devane. Hannah is a seven year old girl who suffers from eosinophilic esophagitis, a potentially fatal condition that makes it impossible for her to eat most foods.

Senate Passes "New Jobs-NY" Job Creation Plan

The New York State Senate has voted on the 2012 NEW JOBS-NY Job Creation Plan.  The Senate’s comprehensive plan will help create thousands of new private sector jobs by delivering tax relief to small businesses and manufacturers, reducing energy costs, and enacting major fiscal reforms to make New York State more economically competitive.  The bill is co-sponsored by Senators Lanza and Savino.

'New York State Museum Week' underway locally, statewide

SENATOR BALL PASSES LEGISLATION TO PROTECT VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

 

Albany, N.Y. – (5/29/12) – The New York State Senate passed legislation that will extend the maximum amount of days victims of domestic violence may stay in residential facilities from 135 days to 180 days. The bill S6308A/2651A, sponsored by Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) will provide individuals and their families who are staying at domestic violence shelters with the opportunity to apply for an additional 45 day extension.

Senator Serrano and Council Member Mark-Viverito Speak out against Bullying

(New York, NY)- State Senator José M. Serrano (D-Manhattan/Bronx) and City Council Member Melissa Mark-Viverito (D-Manhattan/Bronx) today expressed their heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of 12 year old Joel Morales from Jefferson Houses in East Harlem, and spoke out against bullying in schools. SENATE PASSES BILL TO CLOSE LOOPHOLE IN “SON OF SAM” LAW

Measure Prevents Criminals From Profiting From Their Crimes

The New York State Senate today passed legislation that closes a loophole in the “Son of Sam” law to further restrict a criminal’s ability to profit from their crimes. The bill (S.4393A), sponsored by Senator John Flanagan (R-C-I, East Northport), corrects a longstanding flaw in the state’s existing “Son of Sam” law by preventing all criminals, regardless of their final plea or conviction, from commercially exploiting their crime.

SENATOR FUSCHILLO SPONSORS FREE CHILD CAR SEAT SAFETY CHECK

     Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently partnered with the Nassau County Traffic Safety Board in sponsoring a free car seat safety check where parents could have their children’s car seats checked for proper installation. The program was held at John Burns Park in Massapequa Park.

Geneva- I was the keynote speaker for the Finger Lakes Health College of Nursing’s 3rd graduation ceremony where I congratulated the graduates and praised them for their hard work and commitment to the field of nursing. The graduates will now become a part of the growing number of individuals employed in the health care profession.
