LOHUD: PART OF ROUTE 119 RENAMED TO HONOR LATE WHITE PLAINS DETECTIVE MICHAEL PERRY

WHITE PLAINS — A section of Route 119 between the Westchester County Center and Main Street has been renamed Detective Michael Perry Memorial Highway in honor of the city police officer who died from a heart attack after chasing and capturing a larceny suspect last year.

Statement by Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos

It is a very sad day for all New Yorkers as we mourn a great statesman and leader, Governor Hugh Carey, who brought the state and the city back from the financial abyss in the 1970’s. He will be remembered as a man of courage who put partisan politics aside and made the tough decisions needed to get New York’s fiscal house back on sound footing. Governor Carey’s message during that crisis of financial discipline and living within our means still resonates to this day.

The legislation was sponsored by Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) and Assemblyman Robert Castelli (R, C – Goldens Bridge) to honor fallen White Plains police officer Michael Perry, who died in the line of duty.

Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a bill on Thursday that designated a portion of Route 119 in White Plains as the Detective Michael Perry Memorial Highway.

Senator Lee M. Zeldin, Assemblyman Dean Murray and Assemblyman Al Graf Announce Governor Cuomo’s Signature on Grace Peshkur Bridge Legislation

Suffolk County, NY- Senator Lee M. Zeldin (R, C, I- Shirley), Assemblyman Dean Murray (R, C- East Patchogue) and Assemblyman Al Graf (R, C–Holbrook) announced today that Governor Cuomo has signed their bill in to law naming the Waverly Avenue Bridge over the Long Island Expressway in Holtsville in honor of Grace Peshkur.

Grace Peshkur of Holtsville passed away on May 17, 2009, at the age of seven. She suffered from Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), also known as Butterfly Disease, a connective tissue condition causing blisters in the skin and mucosal membranes. EB sufferers resemble burn victims but their wounds never heal.

BALL SECURES $100,000 FOR RECREATION CENTER

 

Brewster, N.Y. – (08/05/11) – Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) stopped by the Town of Patterson Recreation Center today to present a $100,000 check to the center to be used toward air conditioning and flooring upgrades. The money, secured by Senator Ball through a state grant, will allow the center to move forward on badly needed infrastructure upgrades.
