Support the American Red Cross Haiti Relief Efforts

As you may know, earlier this week a massive 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti and its capital, Port-au-Prince.  The death and devastation are unimaginable, and the people of Haiti will need the assistance of people all over the world, including Americans, to recover from this tragedy.

On January 13, 2010, The Onteora High School Music Department hosted a re-dedication of the newly-renovated Harry Simon Auditorium. Haiti Needs Our Help

Hello Friends,We've all been following the heartbreaking news coming out of Haiti since yesterday's tragic earthquake. I am glad to see that our national government is moving in with assistance, but as New Yorker's many of us have personal relationships with Haiti and with the large Haitian American community in our own great and diverse City.For me, this tragedy reinforces how precious and fragile our lives and safety can be!Nature has taken its course and overnight, an entire country is thrown into turmoil.

Statement from Senator Morahan on the Haitian Relief Effort

“As the immediate relief efforts are underway and ongoing in Haiti, it is my understanding that the Governor has instructed New York State to work with our federal officials and local officials on the ground to identify resource needs. Even as our resources are mobilized as quickly as possible, it will take hours -- and in many cases days -- to get all of our first-responders and resources on the ground in a safe and orderly manner.

Press Conference: Press Conference on Special Committee of Inquiry To Relase Final Report

In October 2009, the New York State Senate unanimously passed a resolution approving a special committee of inquiry to investigate the conduct for which Senator Hiram Monserrate was convicted by the State Supreme Court of Queens County. The Committee examined precedent, rules, and all relevant law to establish the proper procedures and identify the remedies available to the Senate. The Committee conducted a thorough review of the facts and relevant evidence, as well as the potential options available under applicable law to address to this matter.

Senator Serrano Joins Attorney General Cuomo to Denounce Fraudulent Immigration Services

(New York, NY)- Senator José M. Serrano joined New York State Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo, and Assemblyman Adriano Espaillat, to announce a lawsuit by the Attorney General's Office against two companies that provided fraudulent and unauthorized immigration services to countless victims in New York City.  The lawsuits were filed against International Immigrants Foundation, Inc. ("IIF"), International Professional Association, Inc. ("IPA"), and their President Edward Juarez, all operating in New York City and generating millions of dollars each year.
