On Monday, January 11, 2010, the North Tonawanda High School Lumberjacks football team, winners of the Class AA New York State Football Championship, visited the capital to be formally honored by the state government. Padavan Honors A Pair of New Eagle Scouts In Bayside

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) honored John Raymond Dunham and James Robert Stankes, from Troop 49, during their Court of Honor ceremony at Sacred Heart Church in Bayside on Saturday January 9, 2009.  During the ceremony, Padavan presented the pair with the New York State Senate Medal of Outstanding Achievement and Certificate of Merit in recognition of their service to the community and achieving the prestigious honor of Eagle Scout. State of the State includes ethics reform proposal

Gov. David A. Paterson's second State of the State address included the Executive Chamber's proposed legislation for additional state ethics reform.Named the Reform Albany Act, the plan would create an independent State Government Ethics Commission that would have ten members chosen by legislative leaders.

It was just a few months ago that Gov. Paterson was being portrayed by "Saturday Night Live" as a blind-as-a-bat buffoon whose only redeeming quality was his ability to insult New Jersey. On Wednesday, when he gave his State of the State address, he was likely the only one in the room with a lick of sense or integrity.
