Senator LaValle Seeks Woman of Distinction

Senator Kenneth P. LaValle is seeking nominations from the First Senate District for the New York State Senate’s 14th Annual Women of Distinction celebration.   The event honors exceptional achievement, personal excellence, and outstanding, courageous, or heroic actions on the part of individual women from across the state. 

“In past years, honorees have joined me at a special reception in Albany to accept the “Women of Distinction” award,” said Senator LaValle.  “Award recipients have had the opportunity to meet with a cross section of women from senate districts throughout New York whose hard work and dedication have helped enrich our state and communities.”

Senator Nozzolio Congratulates Geneva Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year Melissa Marquez

 

Senator Nozzolio congratulated Geneva High School Sophomore Melissa Marquez for being named the Geneva Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year in recognition of her outstanding community service, academic success and leadership qualities. Melissa has made the honor roll consistently since sixth grade and participates in a number of educational programs with the Club, as well as the Leaders’ Project at Hobart & William Smith College. She plans on attending college to study biochemistry.

SENATE PASSES BILL TO CRACK DOWN ON AUTO INSURANCE FRAUD

Bill Sets Tough Penalties for Staging Car Accidents

The New York State Senate today passed a bill that would prevent insurance fraud by making it a felony to intentionally cause a vehicle collision. The legislation, sponsored by Senator James L. Seward (R-C-I, Oneonta), targets criminals who capitalize on vulnerable motorists in attempts to profit from insurance claims.

Senate Passes Klein Bill to Strengthen Green Markets/ Increase Access to New York Grown Products

The State Senate Tuesday unanimously passed legislation sponsored by Senator Jeffrey D. Klein, (D-Bronx/ Westchester), that would expand local and regional green markets, like those in the greater Bronx area, and increase access to New York State grown fruits and vegetables.

March 22, 2011  Senator Bonacic met with Nikolas DeJesus from the Saugerties Boys and Girls Club today. Senator Bonacic presented Niko with a Senate Resolution congratulating him on his candidacy for the NYS Boys and Girls Club “Youth of the Year” Award. The Youth of the Year is an annual award given to the young New Yorkers who best represent the values and ideals of the Boys and Girls Club New York State Alliance.

SENATOR GOLDEN JOINS WITH AMERICAN ITALIAN CANCER FOUNDATION TO PROVIDE FREE MAMMOGRAM SCREENINGS

Brooklyn- State Senator Marty Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) is announcing his plans to host free mammography screenings in conjunction with the American Italian Cancer Foundation during the month of April at both of his district offices.

The 37 foot mobile mammography van, staffed completely by women, will be outside of his District Office located at 7408-5th Avenue on Tuesday, April 12, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at his office located at 3604 Quentin Road.

My office has been contacted by the American Italian Cancer Foundation regarding the scheduled mammograms for April 12th and 13th.
