2011 Community Meetings -- see this week's schedule

Senaor O'Mara is joining with the region's representatives in the New York State Assembly -- Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R-C-I, Corning) and Assemblyman Chris Friend (R-Big Flats) -- for a series of community meetings throughout the area in the coming weeks. 

Meetings have already been held in Bath, Corning, and Wayland.

Shore Road Parks Conservancy “It’s My Park Day”

The Shore Road Parks Conservancy will be hosting additional cleanup sites along Shore Road during the “It’s My Park Day” event on October 15th. New areas at the 3rd Avenue entrance and between 73rd and 78 Streets will be open for volunteers to come and help clean up and beautify the park there. In total there will be 8 sites run by the Conservancy; at:

 

 

· 3rd Avenue Entrance (10am to 2pm)

· The potent...ial dog run site at 3rd Avenue (10am to 2pm)

· 97th Street Entrance (10am to 2pm)

· The Gazebo at 90th Street (9am to 12 noon)

· The Flagpole at 81st Street (9am to 12 noon)

· 73rd to 78th Street (9am to 12 noon)

· Narrows Botanical Gardens (entrance closest to 70th Street) (10am to 1pm)

LOHUD: BALL AGAIN KNOCKS HAYWORTH ON IRENE

State Sen. Greg Ball, R-Patterson, criticized Rep. Nan Hayworth this week for her  “yes” vote last week on a stopgap spending bill that linked emergency relief funds for those suffering from Tropical Storm Irene with offsetting cuts in spending elsewhere in the federal budget.

Senator DeFrancisco Attends Grand Opening of La Casita Cultural Center in Syracuse

Senator John A. DeFrancisco helped celebrate the opening of La Casita Cultural Center, located in the The Lincoln Building on Otisco Street in Syracuse.  The center is the only Latino cultural center in the region.  It is a project of Syracuse University.  A grand opening celebration was held on September 28th.
