Senator Carlucci Protects Voting Rights for New Yorkers Serving Abroad

It is unacceptable for our military who are bravely serving abroad, to not have their votes counted.  Today the Senate passed  legislation that will allow adequate time for military ballots to be sent and returned in the event of a special election.

Free Skating Has Kids Twirling in Coney as Winter Ends

Last Friday, about 250 kids, parents, teachers and other Brooklyn residents laced up their figure and hockey skates to whirl around Abe Stark rink on the Coney Island boardwalk. Skating was free for the day, sponspored by Councilman Domenic M. Recchia Jr.

A bevy of politicos were on hand, including state Senator Diane Savino, Representative Jerrold Nadler and Assemblyman Alec Brook-Krasny, all of whom have some jurisdiction over Coney Island.

Professional figure skater and frequent “parade personality” Marni Halasa dressed as the Coney Island Fairy Godmother to perform tricks and teach the kids how to skate.

Measure has Governor’s backing and is set to become law

Albany- State Senator Marty Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today joined with the New York State Senate in voting to give final legislative approval today to legislation (S.3500) sponsored by State Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C, Big Flats), Chairman of the Senate Elections Committee, to ensure that special elections in New York State provide more time for military absentee ballots to be mailed and counted.

SENATE PASSES BILL TO STRENGTHEN VOTING PROCESS

Measure has Governor’s backing and is set to become law

The New York State Senate today gave final legislative approval today to legislation (S.3500) supported by Senator Andrew Lanza, to ensure that special elections in New York State provide more time for military absentee ballots to be mailed and counted.

“This bill ensures that New York’s servicemen and servicewomen are given every reasonable opportunity to have their voices heard and their votes counted in special elections,” said Senator Andrew Lanza.
