Geneva Happiness House

Senator Mike Nozzolio recently participated in the opening celebration of the new Autism Diagnostic and Evaluation Clinic at the Happiness House in Geneva. Autism impacts thousands of families in our region and it is important to provide the highest level of services to both the individuals with autism and their families. The services that the Geneva Happiness House provides will serve as a blueprint for other providers across our State and our Nation.

SENATOR GOLDEN ANNOUNCES LEGISLATION TO PROTECT RENTAL CAR RIGHTS FOR AUTO INSURERS

Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R, C, I, Brooklyn) is pleased to announce the passage of Senate Bill 4651. There have been instances of insurers steering their customers with rental vehicle reimbursement coverage to use one particular rental vehicle company. This bill will help not only the consumer but rental car companies as well.

Senator Golden stated “As a member of the Insurance Committee within the State Senate many cases like this have come across my desk and, as your representative, I will continue to work to protect the rights of consumers so that we have a safe place to live, work and raise our families.”

STATEMENT BY SENATE REPUBLICAN LEADER DEAN SKELOS

The Chief Judge’s administrative order will ensure that the remaining legitimate votes are counted promptly and that legal issues are resolved expeditiously so we can put the election behind us and get back to governing.

 

Clearly the Judge agrees with the appeals that I have made, along with Governor-elect Cuomo, that we cannot allow the counting of ballots to needlessly drag on when it would create gridlock and dysfunction.  Senate Democrats have admitted to stalling the process of counting ballots in an effort to delay a result they don’t like, which is a Senate Republican Majority.

SENATOR GOLDEN REMINDS COMMUNITY RESIDENTS TO BE WARY OF UTILITY COMPANY SCAMS

Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn), the Ranking Member of the Crime Victims, Crime, and Correction Committee, in response to recent complaints received by his office, is reminding community residents of the danger of utility company scams in our neighborhoods. The most recent complaints have involved companies and individuals, often pretending to be from National Grid, contacting residents on the phone or in person. Attempts are made to confuse residents into buying their gas service or may even intentionally break equipment in a home or building and solicit the company’s services for repairs

Car rental companies gouging outer boros: pols

By SALLY GOLDENBERG Claiming geographic discrimination, three lawmakers want to put the brakes on car rental companies that charge higher rates to residents living in certain boroughs. A survey of 11 car companies that do business in the five boroughs found two – Thrifty and Dollar, which are owned by the same parent company – charge Brooklyn, Queens and Bronx residents an additional fee based on their residence. Brooklynites pay an additional $55 daily to rent from either of those companies, Bronx residents pay $53 per day and Queens dwellers are charged $11 each day, according to a survey from Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, state Sen. Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition’s Golf Skill Challenge Classic

Senator Owen H. Johnson was recently on hand for the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition’s (BBCC) Golf Skill Challenge Classic at the Sumpwams Creek Golf Course in Babylon Village.  The October 25th outing raised funds to benefit Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition’s many patient and community services.
