Padavan Honored For Commitment and Dedication To The Entire Whitestone Community

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) joined with Councilman Dan Halloran, the Greater Whitestone Taxpayers’ Civic Association, the Knights of Columbus and the North Queens United Group to host the first annual Whitestone Family Appreciation Day at Francis Lewis Park on Saturday June 26.  The event featured an afternoon full of programs, games and activities for children and their families.  Money raised from raffles and other donations will benefit the Whitestone Veteran’s Memorial Day Association.  During the event, the Padavan was honored by the Greater Whitestone

Grand Opening of a new building at the Joseph Y. Resnick Airport in the Town of Wawarsing

On Sunday, June 27th, 2010 Senator Bonacic attended and spoke at a ribbon-cutting and naming of the building ceremony at the Joseph Y. Resnick Airport located between the Village of Ellenville and the Hamlet of Napanoch.  The building will house a Substation for the Ulster County Sheriff's Office, as well as a modular terminal building.

City Recreation Centers, Pools, Spray Parks Ready for Summer Vacation!

Now that school is out, Recreation Centers around the city will begin their summer programming, which will run from June 28 through August 20, generally from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activities at the centers range from sports and games to swimming, meals, nature activities, arts and crafts, community service projects, and more. Full summer schedules for each center are on the city’s web site. Visit www.cityofrochester.gov/recreation to link to the centers and access complete schedules.

Remembering The Life of Francis “Red” Pisciotti

Auburn- Senator Mike Nozzolio recently presented a special New York State Resolution that was adopted in the New York State Senate to Mary Ann Pisciotti in memory of her late husband, Francis “Red” Pisciotti. Red Pisciotti contributed to the welfare of his community as a Corrections Officer of 26 years and was actively involved in several civic and charitable endeavors.

Senator Bill Perkins Advocates for the Dignity for All Students Act

On June 22, 2010 Senator Bill Perkins participated in a press conference which advocated for the passage of S. 1987-B, the dignity for all students act.  On the same day the bill passed the Senate with a vote of 58 to 3.

STATEMENT BY SENATE REPUBLICAN LEADER DEAN SKELOS

 

With every passing day,  there are more signs that the Democrats plan on raising more taxes.  There was another private leaders meeting today that did not include myself or Assembly Republican leader Kolb. After the meeting, Governor Paterson confirmed that he, Speaker Silver and Senator Sampson discussed increasing sales taxes and other “revenue options,” which is just another way of saying more taxes. Taxpayers better watch their wallets.

Remembering The Life of Michael Lepak

I recently had the honor to present a special New York State Resolution that was adopted in the New York State Senate to Greg Lepak in memory of his late father, Michael Lepak. Mike Lepak was a member of the Cayuga County Legislature for over 34 years and dedicated his life to public service.
