Marion Central School Girls Basketball State Champions

Marion - Senator Mike Nozzolio recently presented a special New York State Resolution that he enacted in the New York State Senate to honor the Marion Central School Girls Varsity Basketball team. The Lady Black Knights captured the 2010 New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class C Championship.

Supporting The Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery

Waterloo - Senator Mike Nozzolio recently stopped in Waterloo to show his support for the Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery at the former Sampson Naval and Air Force base. Members of the Veteran's cemetery committee sponsored a chicken barbecue to raise awareness and support for the project.

Recognizing Honorees Whose Service Is A Model For Others

Senator Mike Nozzolio recently presented special New York State flags to Rose Kleman and Betty Pickering in honor of their selection as "Citizen of the Year" by the Farmington-Victor Kiwanis Club.

Senator Johnson-Sponsored Bill To Increase Government Transparency Passes State Senate

 

Legislation sponsored by Senator Craig M. Johnson, (D-Nassau), to increase transparency and public scrutiny of state government recently passed the State Senate. 

The bill (S.7369/ A.10052) would require the Secretary of State to compile and maintain its first-ever full list of state commissions, boards, councils, task forces, or similar bodies.  The list, which will also include each entity's membership and meeting times, is required to be updated yearly and be available to the public.

$3.25 million in funding for research facility at New York Medical College

Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Senate Majority Conference Leader John Sampson with the New York Medical College (NYMC) announced an award of $3.25 million to NYMC for a Hudson Valley Biotechnology Center for Disaster Medicine and Emerging Infections. Funding was secured through the New York State Senate Gen*NY*sis program to upgrade and modernize an existing building to accommodate this biotechnology facility.

SENATOR GOLDEN CALLS FOR MTA TO KEEP B37 ROLLING IN BROOKLYN

Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today is echoing his call that the MTA’s plan to restructure the B70, so to partially supplement service along the current B37 route, is not sufficient and will leave this community underserved. Senator Golden attended and spoke at a rally this past Saturday at the B37 bus stop outside Foodtown at 91st Street and 3rd Avenue.
