Senator Foley Honors East Islip Eagle Scout

Senator Foley recently honored Christian Reed, 18, of East Islip, who earned his Eagle Scout Award, the highest advancement awarded by the Boy Scouts of America. Christian is a senior at East Islip High School and a member of Boy Scout Troop 508. Christian's project involved restoring a courtyard at East Islip High School so that it may be used by the school for science and other classes.

North Tonawanda Catholic students tour Albany

Senator Maziarz enjoyed the opportunity to show 4th grade students from North Tonawanda Catholic School around the Concourse in Albany on May 12, 2010.  Located below the Empire State Plaza, the Concourse is an underground mall connecting key buildings such as the Capitol, Legislative Office Building, State Agency Buildings, and the New York State Museum.

Marion Central School Girls Basketball State Champions

Supporting The Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery

Waterloo - Senator Mike Nozzolio recently stopped in Waterloo to show his support for the Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery at the former Sampson Naval and Air Force base. Members of the Veteran's cemetery committee sponsored a chicken barbecue to raise awareness and support for the project.

Recognizing Honorees Whose Service Is A Model For Others

Senator Mike Nozzolio recently presented special New York State flags to Rose Kleman and Betty Pickering in honor of their selection as "Citizen of the Year" by the Farmington-Victor Kiwanis Club.

Senator Johnson-Sponsored Bill To Increase Government Transparency Passes State Senate

 

Legislation sponsored by Senator Craig M. Johnson, (D-Nassau), to increase transparency and public scrutiny of state government recently passed the State Senate. 

The bill (S.7369/ A.10052) would require the Secretary of State to compile and maintain its first-ever full list of state commissions, boards, councils, task forces, or similar bodies.  The list, which will also include each entity's membership and meeting times, is required to be updated yearly and be available to the public.
