Padavan Welcomes A Pair of Local West Point Cadets At Capitol

On Wednesday April 28, New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) a retired colonel and 30-year veteran of the United State Army Corp of Engineers, met with Cadet Rachel Kim and Cadet Hemanth Nalamothu during West Point Day at the State Capitol. Cadet Kim, a member of the Class of 2013 is from Whitestone and Cadet Nalamothu, a member of the Class of 2011 is from Bayside. This was Nalamothu’s second visit to the Capitol for West Point Day.

Senator Nozzolio Pays Tribute To Ontario County Sheriff Phil Povero

Canandaigua - Senator Mike Nozzolio recently presented Ontario County Sheriff Phil Povero with a special New York State Resolution that was adopted in the State Senate in recognition of his nearly 39 years of dedicated service to the people of Ontario County. Still going strong, Sheriff Povero is the longest serving sheriff in the history of Ontario County.

SENATOR GOLDEN INTRODUCES LEGISLATION TO CREATE A COMMISSION ON CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION

Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today is announcing that he has introduced legislation in the New York State Senate,

S. 7514, that will establish a temporary commission to study child abuse prevention and make recommendations to the Governor and the Legislature for the implementation of child abuse prevention programs across New York State. The legislation is sponsored by Senators Frank Padavan (R-Queens) and Andrew Lanza (R-Staten Island).

Senator Johnson: Arizona Iced Tea is Long Island Business; Boycott Misguided

“The proposed boycott of Arizona Iced Tea is a misdirected response to the new law that has been imposed in the state of Arizona. The Arizona Beverage Co. is based in Woodbury, Nassau County, where it employs more than 200 Long Islanders. The company was founded in New York and is a bonafide Empire State success story. I personally believe the Arizona law is wrongheaded, politically motivated and will likely not survive a court challenge. It also does nothing to advance us toward a national solution to the problem of illegal immigration.

The New York State Conference of Black Senators mourns the loss Of a great leader Dr. Dorothy I. Height “The Godmother of the Civil Rights Movement”

On Tuesday, April 20th, 2010, the nation lost one its greatest civil rights leaders, Dr. Dorothy Height who passed away at the age of 98. Senator Kevin Parker’s latest comments this morning, calling members of the Senate “white supremacists,” are disturbing, disgraceful, disruptive and reprehensible and have no place in this government body or any other.   

 

It’s clear that members of the Senate, on both sides of the aisle, are sick and tired of Senator Parker’s repeated angry, and sometimes violent, outbursts.
