Geneva Water Project Groundbreaking

Senator Mike Nozzolio recently helped to break ground at the new modified water district in the Town of Geneva. The new water district, which will encompass parts of Braewood Lane, County Road 6, and Hastings Road, will provide much-needed municipal water to the residents of this community. Senator Nozzolio played a critical role in securing the necessary funding to establish this important project.

Welcoming the Debut of the M15 Select Bus Service

After several years of work and advocacy by the Community Advisory Committee for Select Bus Service (CAC) on First and Second Avenues, East Side elected officials, Manhattan Community Board 6, Transportation Alternatives and other transportation and community stakeholders, the New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) debuted the M15 Select Bus Service (SBS) along First and Second Avenues on Sunday, October 10.  While short of the true Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system for which many of us had advocated, SBS has proven to increase bus speed and convenience.  An SBS installed in the Bronx has resulted in 20% faster bus trips, and it is expected that we will see similar if not greater benefits along the underserved East Side of Manhattan.  As with any new service, imple

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Special Tees will mark its 15th anniversary with an open house Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. in the headquarters of its parent organization, Community Resources, at 3450 Victory Blvd., Travis.

SENATOR GOLDEN PARTNERS WITH THE VISITING NURSE SERVICE TO OFFER FREE FLU SHOTS

Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C, 22nd District) in conjunction with the Visiting Nurse Service of New York, is announcing that he will be offering free flu shots for senior citizens, uninsured residents, and those who the Health Department is encouraging to get the annual flu vaccine, at two events during the first week of November.

Free flu shots will be available to the community on Thursday, November 4, 2010 from 10:00 a.m.- 1:00 pm at the Bay Ridge Manor, located at 476-76th Street, and on Friday, November 5, 2010, from 12:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. at the Salt Marsh Nature Center, located at 3302 Avenue U.
