Students Lobby for After-School Program Funding

Students, parents and teachers from P.S. 24 in Sunset Park ask Senator Montgomery to support their After-School Program, which is facing tough financial times due to the  Governor proposed budget cuts. The Senator pledged to do all that she can to restore funding to $30.5 million, an amount that was earmarked for after-school programs in last year's budget.

March 2010: Senator Montgomery (seated, center) joins with her legislative colleagues  to announce the First Annual Minority Women Business Enterprise (MWBE) Awareness Day. To commemorate the event, more than 300 MWBEs came to the Capital City to discuss their business enterprises and press for legislative reforms that increase their access to the state contracts.

Aubertine: State Education Department to Award more than $400,000 to North Country Library System Libraries

Senator Robach Helps Out at Lollypop Farm Telethon

Senator Robach joins Evan Dawson and Norma Holland of 13WHAM-TV on Saturday, March 6th, at Eastview Mall for the Lollypop Farm 2010 Telethon. Lollypop Farm's 14th annual fundraiser raised $198,450 to support homeless animals in Rochester. All funds raised will help Lollypop Farm care for over 12,000 pets this coming year and continue to bring valuable services—including humane education and cruelty investigations—to the Rochester community.

Two Brooklyn lawmakers are tightening a law so people don’t drink near where they pray.

Under State Sen. Dan Squadron and Assemblymember Joan Millman’s bill, a loophole will be closed in the so-called 200-foot law, intended to keep nightlife establishments a reasonable distance from schools and places of worship.
