This Noh play by poet Leslie Scalapino travels between the left and right sides of the brain, with appearances by a reincarnated Patty Hearst in the 1974 SLA bank heist and a green-winged creature that is part crocodile, part Michelin man and part charging rhino. The play is performed by The Relationship, a performance group directed by Fiona Templeton that specializes in innovative language and use of site.
WATERLOO- Senator Mike Nozzolio recently stopped to congratulate the members of the Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery board of directors and their volunteers on their very successful golf tournament. Proceeds from the event will benefit the cemetery. Senator Nozzolio helped to create the cemetery as a final and peaceful resting place, that will serve as a lasting, permanent memorial to those who answered the call of duty, and served their nation with honor and dignity.
State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) today dedicated the new Beech-Nut processing and packaging plant in the Town of FLorida. The company has also moved its corporate headquarters from St. Louis, Missouri, to the new facility.
Catherine McVay Hughes is vice chair of Community Board 1; however she was absent from Tuesday’s full board meeting, and for good reason. She was in Albany, being honored at the recommendation of State Senator Daniel Squadron for her role as a community leader in Lower Manhattan, the senator’s district.
“The idea is really to focus on someone whose community activism has made a significant contribution - politics aside,” said Squadron.
Palmyra - Senator Mike Nozzolio recently recognized responders from Manchester, Palmyra, Port Gibson, Wallington, and Macedon Fire Departments who assisted with the Palmyra VFW fire at their appreciation dinner. Senator Nozzolio expressed his deep gratitude for the exceptional heroism, and service they provided to the Palmyra VFW and local community.
Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, 22nd District), today is announcing that McKinley Junior High School 8th Grade student Norman Zhao has been selected as the winner of the 8th Annual “State Senator For A Day” essay contest. In his essay, Norman wrote about the importance of the Brooklyn Public Library, and how as a Senator, he would work to prevent any budget cuts to libraries.
Senator Hugh T. Farley (R,C,I – Schenectady) capped his observance of Memorial Day 2010 with visits to three Montgomery County Memorial Day parades on Monday, May 31--Fonda-Fultonville, Hagaman, and the Town of Glen. In the course of the annual observance, Senator Farley marched in eight such parades, the above three, plus Johnstown in Fulton County, Rotterdam and Scotia in Schenectady County, and Corinth in Saratoga County.
