Sen. Foley Thanks Volunteers Supporting Haitian Earthquake Relief Efforts

On January, 20, 2010, State Senator Brian X. Foley (D - Blue Point) sponosored a reolution expressing solidarity with victims of the Haitian earthquake. Senator Foley, whose district includes a vibrant Haitian American community, thanked volunteers who have pitched in to help relief efforts.

Statement by State Senator Daniel Squadron on Today’s World Trade Center Arbitration Ruling

“While I am still reviewing the details of the decision, it seems this ruling came to the same conclusion the community and I have been advocating: we need an agreement that assures that construction is completed as soon as possible. I urge the Port Authority and Silverstein Properties to spend these forty-five days negotiating around the clock to arrive at an agreement that will allow construction to proceed and conclude. Further fights and delays are unacceptable.”

Book Relating To U.S. Naval Commander Presented To Senator Nozzolio

Seneca Falls - Senator Mike Nozzolio was recently presented with a copy of the book “Pioneer and Patriot” which documents the life and military service of U.S. Naval Commander George Cook Sweet. Bob Meyer, Commander Sweet's nephew, presented the book to the Senator.

“Somos Una Isla”…”We Are One Island” Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at a benefit concert themed “Somos Una Isla”, Senate President Malcolm A. Smith accepted $50,000 donated by Dominican band Aventura, and the group's tour sponsor, Anheuser-Busch, on behalf of the New York State Senate to give relief to the millions of Haitian citizens displaced by a massive earthquake last week.
