SENATOR GOLDEN HOSTS 2009 HALLOWEEN WALK & FAIR


Brooklyn- State Senator Marty Golden, in conjunction with the Southwest Brooklyn Parks Task Force and the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT1NYC), recently hosted the 2009 Halloween Walk & Fair at Owl’s Head Park. The 15th Annual event featured the Haunted Walk, the Fairytale Forest, a pumpkin patch, a costume contest and much more. The event also included rides for the children, pony rides, face painting and “Dracula’s Food Court”.

Recognizing Those Who Serve Our Nation

Phelps - Senator Mike Nozzolio recently recognized the service of United States Marine Corporal Joshua Merkle upon his return to the states from Afghanistan. Senator Nozzolio presented Cpl. Merkle with a New York State flag that has previously been flown over the Capitol building in Albany.

Sen. Young Assesses Fire Damage in Alfred, NY

Sen. Young assesses the damage caused by a devastating fire on Main Street in downtown Alfred, NY on October 29th. The fire destroyed two businesses and forced more than two dozen college students out of their apartments. Joining her are Dr. John Anderson, President of Alfred State and Wendell Peters, Chief of the A. E. Crandall Hook & Ladder Company

Students in Mrs. Angela Kremberg’s 5th grade class recently welcomed State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. to Chatterton Elementary School. Senator Fuschillo was invited by Mrs. Kremberg’s class to help them learn about state government.

Celebrating the Monumental Victory for Renters Citywide in Roberts v. Tishman Speyer Properties

In fighting on behalf of tenants, I have long argued that under New York State law, landlords who receive New York City tax abatements for renovations must extend rent stabilization protections to their tenants during the abatement period.

Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz to Attend Family Day Event with Book Bags for 300 Children

New York State Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz (D-Bronx) will distribute book bags to the first 300 children who attend the Family Day festivity on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 3:00 pm at the Rock Garden located at East 174th Street and Longfellow Avenue in The Bronx.  This family event has been organized by Reverend Joel Bauza, Pastor of the Calvary Church on E. 174th Street.

STATEMENT FROM NEW YORK STATE SENATE REPUBLICAN LEADER DEAN G. SKELOS

The updated financial information released today by the State Budget Division is a clarion call for passage of a real spending cap that would force Albany to live within its means.  In fact, Senate Republicans have publicly urged the Governor to make this legislation part of any deficit reduction package he sends to the Legislature next month.
