Senator Nozzolio Joins Purple Lancers To Celebrate Dr. Karpinski’s 85th Birthday

Auburn - Senator Mike Nozzolio recently joined members of the Auburn Purple Lancers to surprise Dr. Joe Karpinski with a special performance in honor of his 85th birthday. The newly reformed Auburn Purple Lancers gathered to perform a few selections in honor of Dr. Joe’s long-standing commitment to his community.

Senator Nozzolio Joins Korean War Veterans at Memorial Dedication

Waterloo - Senator Mike Nozzolio recently joined members of the Korean War Veterans Association at the site of the new memorial recognizing our local veterans and their sacrifices. Senator Nozzolio provided the state assistance necessary for local Chapter # 1 to build the memorial.

Albany Update

On July 9, the month-long stalemate in the New York State Senate ended. The June 8th coup was a painful and disturbing moment in the history of the Senate and I am committed to working with my colleagues from both sides of the aisle to restore to the Senate decorum, dignity, fairness, and bipartisan collegiality, as well as hard work with real results.

Seneca Falls - Senator Mike Nozzolio recently honored Adriene Emmo of Seneca Falls with a New York State Liberty Award for her outstanding service to her community. The Liberty Award is one of the highest awards given by the New York State Senate.

Senator Stewart-Cousins: Governor signs “Jimmy Nolan’s Law” 9/11 workers to get the benefits they deserve

            Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins (D/WF-Westchester) announced that Governor Paterson signed “Jimmy Nolan’s Law”, extending the time that 9/11 workers can file compensation claims for injuries suffered from participating in the World Trade Center rescue, recovery or cleanup operations.

SENATOR NOZZOLIO PETITION TO END UTILITY TAX GAINS NEARLY 2,000 SUPPORTERS IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS

Nearly 2,000 New Yorkers have already declared their support for State Senator Mike Nozzolio’s efforts to repeal the regressive new State Assessment Tax on utility bills. Senator Nozzolio has started an online petition calling upon Governor Paterson and Senate President Malcolm Smith to eliminate the tax, which was included in their disastrous 2009-10 State Budget.

New Utility Tax Takes Effect

ONEONTA - Area residents are starting to see a new charge on their utility bills.

A "conservation assessment" and an increase in a fee to fund the Public Service Commission are resulting in a 2 percent increase in energy bills, according to National Grid and New York State Electric & Gas.

The utility increases will hit residents and businesses alike, said state Sen. James Seward, R-Milford.

"We estimate for a family, it could cost an additional $200 a year for electricity," Seward said. "For businesses, you get up into the thousands of dollars."

Senator Tackles The Growing Needs Of Local Food Pantries

Geneva - Senator Mike Nozzolio recently presented members of the Geneva Center of Concern and the Salvation Army of Geneva with some of the non-perishable food items collected at the Senator's annual community night of baseball at McDonough Park. Senator Nozzolio will be hosting a discussion later this summer on the growing needs of local food pantries.

Senator Nozzolio Supports Geneva Sons of Italy’s 30th Anniversary

Geneva - During the annual Sons of Italy festival in Geneva, Senator Mike Nozzolio purchased a polo shirt highlighting his Italian heritage from Paul Williams.

Senator Nozzolio is a member of Geneva Lodge 2397, Order Sons of Italy in America and was pleased to help celebrate the 30th anniversary of the lodge.

Senator Nozzolio Meets With Yankees From Webster

Senator Mike Nozzolio met with players from Webster just prior to the start of last Friday's competition between the Webster Yankees and the Geneva Red Wings. Each year Senator Nozzolio sponsors a community night of baseball in Geneva at McDonough Park. This year the Webster Yankees played the Geneva Redwings as a part of the New York Collegiate Baseball League competition.

Senator Johnson Congratulates the Belmont Lake Civic Association on Their 50th Anniversary

Senator Owen H. Johnson recently presented the Belmont Lake Civic Association with a New York State Senate proclamation in honor of their 50th Anniversary at a gala at the Melville Hilton.  The Belmont Lake Civic Association is one of the oldest African American civic associations in the state.Pictured, from left to right, are:  committee members Patricia Hill Williams, Ruby Hudson, Howard Randolph, Senator Johnson, President Alice T. Senator Nozzolio Announces Grant for Interlaken Senior Apartments

Interlaken- Senator Mike Nozzolio announced today that that the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal has awarded $585,989 to the Village of Interlaken to construct 28 new affordable housing units. The new units will provide low-income housing to eligible seniors in Seneca County and the surrounding area.

“There is a great need for affordable senior housing in Interlaken and in Southern Seneca County,” Senator Nozzolio said, “Interlaken Senior Apartments is a great project that will provide quality and affordable housing for our seniors.”
